2013 NOTES Eastern Oregon University women’s soccer team begins its second year under head coach Jennifer Simonetti. The Mountaineers return 13 players from last year’s squad and welcome in nine newcomers. EOU returns its leader in points from last season, Mauriana Gonzalez, who recorded seven points (1g-5a). The Mountaineers are looking for its first winning season since 2006, its only winning season in the program’s 12-year history. Eastern Oregon faces five nonconference opponents and three schools that were ranked or receiving vote in the final 2012 NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 poll.

SEASON OUTLOOK FROM COACH SIMONETTI With the experience and competitive mentality of our returning players mixed with the talent and excitement of our incoming players, EOU is looking to make a huge change in the success of our season. Not only do our 22 rostered players have a team mentality, but they will create a competitive atmosphere within the program at each position that will transfer onto the field during matches. QUICK LOOK AT THE ROSTER Eastern Oregon returns 13 players from last year’s 1-13-2, 1-6-2 CASCADE squad which went 1-13-2 overall and 1-6-2 in AUGUST (0-3) conference play. Returners include: seniors Se21 Columbia Basin # T, 1-1 nora Lankert, Carolyn Danek, Erika Whitehurst, 25 U of Great Falls L, 1-2 Jordann Whitehurst, Mauriana Gonzalez, Kiah 26 Rocky Mountain L, 0-4 Jones and Kailey Moss. The returning junior is 30 Northwest Nazarene L, 0-2 Sarah Hunter. Returning sophomores are Kaeliana De Vera, Tori Fedora, Haley Hill, Lexi Olivo SEPTEMBER (0-6) and Danielle Robinson. EOU has nine newcomers 7 U of Great Falls$ L, 2-3 joining the program, eight prep standouts and 8 Carroll$ L, 0-4 one transfer. Joining the Mountaineers is Shelby 22 Carroll L, 0-2 Tucker, who transfers in from Western Wyoming 23 College of Idaho L, 1-4 Community College. 2012 HIGHLIGHTS AND OTHER NOTES • Eastern Oregon scored 10 goals on 174 shots in 2012. The 10 goals was the fewest goals scored in the conference. • EOU received four yellow cards during the 2012 season, the fewest in the conference. • Mauriana Gonzalez led the Mountaineers with seven points (1g-5a). Gonzalez will return to the team this season. • The Mountaineers lone win last season came at home. • EOU was outscored 20-3 on the road last season. • Both of the ties for EOU came on the final weekend of regular season play. • EOU was outscored 17-4 in the first half and 24-6 in the second half of games last season. • The Mountaineers return 13 players while nine newcomers join the program.
