THIS WEEK The Southern Connecticut State University softball team is scheduled to play seven games this week, including five conference games on the road. They start with a neutral site game on Tuesday against AIC at the University of New Haven. They’ll return to UNH on Wednesday to play a doubleheader before heading up to Springfield, Mass. on Thursday to play AIC again, this time in a doubleheader. The Owls then return home to play a doubleheader against Queens on Saturday. SCHEDULING CHANGES The weather has forced some major schedule changes this year. Last week’s one game set with Dowling was cancelled. Three games scheduled at AIC has become one neutral site game at UNH on Tuesday and a doubleheader at AIC on Thursday. A doubleheader against Dominican was moved from March 29 to April 20. Doubleheaders against Saint Michaels and Saint Anselm the weekend of 4/11 are cancelled. And the two doubleheaders against New Haven on April 1 and 7 have switched locations – the games on the 1st will be played at UNH, the games on the 7th will be played at Pelz Field. DISANTO HOMERS, BUT OWLS FALL After all the cancellations and postponements, the Owls lost the only game they played last week, 5-2 to Pace, thanks to a five run first inning by the Setters. Jodi DiSanto hit her first home run of the year, joining Leanna Feerick, Giuiana D’Arcangelo, and Kelly Mitchell as the four Owls who have homered this year. BUCH CONTINUES TO ROCK Despite the lack of games this season, Nicole Buch has continued to hit well. In twelve games, she is hitting .417 with two doubles, three RBI, and 17 total bases. COCKRILL GETTING K’s In 46 innings pitched, Kelsey Cockrill has struck out 39 batters and walked 19. ALL-TIME VS. AIC The Owls are 25-41-1 against the Yellow Jackets, and won all three games they played against them last year. ALL-TIME VS. NEW HAVEN The Owls’ all-time record against the Chargers is 32-50-3, with three of those losses coming last year.
