Directions From Route 84: Exit 3 West onto 17M, at 2nd traffic light make left onto County Route 78 (Quick Chek is on the corner). Stay on County Route 78 through 3 lights to entrance to Community Campus on the right. *Make right onto campus at Egerton Ave., left onto Dorothea Dix Drive, then first right onto Ashley Avenue. Follow road until it comes to a "T" - make left onto Seward Avenue. Drive approximately 500 ft. and turn left into parking lot for 18 Seward Ave. (You will see Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County listed on the sign. Enter through front door; use elevator or stairs to our offices on the third floor.) From Route 17W: Exit 123 onto 17M for 5.7 miles, left onto County Route 78 (Quick Chek is on the corner). Break Neonicotinoids and Other Hot Issues in Managing Ornamental Plant Pests Dan Gilrein, Long Island Hort. Research & Extension Ctr.
The group of insecticides known as 'neonicotinoids' - including Marathon, Merit, Safari and others - have been in the news recently. This presentation will review what the discussion is about and means for those growing, selling and maintaining ornamental plants. He will also talk about some of the important pest problems and what might be done about them and review some new products available (or soon available) to the industry for managing insects and mites.

Neil Mattson, Department of Horticulture, Cornell University Considering starting a greenhouse vegetable enterprise or interested in using your bedding plant greenhouse in the off-season? Neil will discuss recent Cornell trials with hydroponic lettuce, bag culture tomatoes, and microgreens. He'll discuss successes and failures and practical suggestions for flower growers interested in growing greenhouse vegetables.
Larry and Jorge will discuss their greenhouse biocontrol program.

Surprising Results from the Shade Annual Trial

Impatiens downy mildew has altered the shade garden and prompted a search for appropriate, disease-resistant alternatives. Results from the 2013 and 2014 shade annuals trial will be reviewed.
The long awaited mobile application for interactive scouting and biocontrol information is available and will be demonstrated in this session.
