GADE VALLEY JMI & NURSERY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Issue 45 13th November 2015
Football Matches
On Wednesday 4thNovember we played Pixies Hill School in a football match. We won 13-1, as you can imagine there were plenty of hat-tricks, these were from Niall, Josh and Alex. The rest of the goals were scored by Connor (1), Tyrese (1) and Leo (2). We were solid in defence thanks to Jake and Joe and our goalkeepers kept strong throughout. The whole team were committed and showed respect to the opposition. Pixies played well and had a great attitude despite the defeat.

The girls also had a football match on Wednesday 4th, they won 7-0! It was a good game and the other team played extremely well. Our goal scorers were Tijana (2), Ella (1), Sadie (2), and two own goals. The team was very determined and confident and did not lose sight of what was important – fair play!

On Thursday 12th November, Gade Valley girls took on a very strong Bridgewater School team. Sadly we lost the game 2-0. Although we did not succeed, we kept trying hard and remained confident until the final
We had a brilliant day in St Albans last week. We saw the Hypocaust in the Park and visited the Roman Ampitheatre where we were able to walk right into the centre of the arena. At the Museum we took part in an artefact handling session and investigated lots of objects that have been found around St Albans. We found out that some of the objects invented and used by the Romans are
still used today, such as: buttons, bricks and farming tools. We’re looking forward to telling you more about our trip at our sharing assembly on Wednesday, 25th November.
Pedestrian Training Year 2 have been walking around the local area, learning how to cross roads safely. The children would like to share some of the things they have learnt “Always look behind you before you cross the road just in case a fast car is coming” Drew “We were looking at lights on the backs of cars and what they mean” Jamaica “We looked at different signs and what they are for, and what the lights do”
Neve
“We learnt that when there is a zebra crossing we must always stop”

Tri-Golf Year 2 won 2nd place at the Tri-golf tournament at Cavendish School! Last week Year 2 took part in a Tri-golf tournament at Cavendish School. They tried lots of different activities, including Tunnel Ball and Building Bridges, which helped them to practise their golf skills. We're very proud of them because they came in second place out of the 18 school teams competing in the tournament and they were only 4 points behind the winners! Congratulations Year 2!
On Wednesday 4th November, Year 6 hosted residents from a local care home for tea and cake. The afternoon was a huge success and the children really enjoyed talking to our guests. We are currently investigating the opportunity for the Year 6 children to visit the care home where they will sing Christmas carols and deliver mince pies. More details to follow. Children in Need
The children looked fantastic today with all their spots! The wrist bands were a great success, with the sale of these and the donations given on the day raised £310.00 Well done everyone!
We also held a special assembly where KS1 teachers battled against KS2 teachers. They had to compete in a number of tasks including pin the eye patch on Pudsey, how many skips could be achieved in 30 seconds and creating a ‘mummy’ in the quickest time! The outstanding winners were our KS2 teachers!! The gauntlet has been laid down ready for next year!
