Tad Johnson is in his third year as the Golden Knights Strength and Conditioning coach, preparing both hockey programs for the physical demands of their sport. During Johnson’s first year, he helped Clarkson gain its first-ever NCAA Natonal Championship with the Women’s Ice Hockey team, and helped the Men’s team to its best season in six years. Johnson is looking to build upon the success of the past two years and develop a winning culture within the hockey programs. Previously, he was at the University of Minnesota working with many teams, including Men’s and Women’s Hockey.

The Workout The Workout - The workout consists of a Dynamic Warm Up, Strength Training, Speed Development & Conditioning with a strong focus on proper technique. The workout progresses through three phases helping to develop work capacity, strength and power. Work Capacity - High-volume training used to improve total body conditioning, increasing work capacity, improving the aerobic abilities of the athlete. Strength - Using the progressive overload training approach to strength helps to develop proper technique, set new personal records each week and improve overall strength. This approach allows athletes to become comfortable using multi-joint exercises with increasing loads. Power - This phase of training uses body weight plyometrics to increase the athlete’s ability to generate power. Mobility - Mobility Cool Down, foam rolling and stretching to improve mobility and take care of your body. Nutrition Education - Nutritional discussions about how to simplify nutrition and make the right choices.
