2016 Twinsburg AYSO HS Tournament Rules
Play is 11v 11. Quarters are 10 minutes with 1 minute between quarters. Half time will be 5 minutes. Only rostered Twinsburg AYSO players are allowed to play in this tournament. Games played with a un-rostered player will be forfeited. If tournament is played with neighboring communities, all team rosters must be submitted/approved prior to start of tournament.
Tournament Check in Prior to first game: All coaches must check in 30 minutes prior to the start of your first game with the Tournament Director Each Coach will sign the rules sheet signifying that they have read and understand all rules for the tournament. The commencement of your first game will also signify that the team and coach understand all tournament rules. Game Procedures: Halftime Score Verification: Scorecards must be signed by each coach verifying the halftime score. End of Game Score Verification: Scorecards must be signed by each coach verifying the Final Score. Referees will bring signed scorecards to the Tournament Director. If cards are unsigned, the referee’s recorded score will be the final score. Tournament Points are awarded as follows: 3 Tournament Points given for each win (forfeits will be scored as 1-0 wins) 1 Tournament point for tie 0 Tournament points for a loss ****** RUNNING UP THE SCORE PENALTY (Blow out rule)****** This rule is intended to penalize teams for running up the score. Please Read!: One penalty point will be accessed to the winning team if the final score differential is 5 or more goals. For Example: A final score of 6-1 means 2 Net Tournament Point for the winner and 0 for the loser. Details: (6-1= 5 goal differential. With 5 goal differential or more, the winning team is penalized 1 penalty point) so, 3 Points for win minus 1 penalty point = 2 Net Tournament Points for the winning team. A final score of 6-2 means (a 4 goal differential, no Penalty Points) so 3 points for the winning team. ***intentional “own goals” to manipulate the final score to cause penalty points will not be considered in penalty calculations. Referees will notate this on the game card and the tournament director will make final decision.
Advancement to Championship Game: Each team will play three games. The 2 teams with the most Net Tournament Points will play each other in the Championship game. If there is a tie in Net Tournament Points after the pool games have been played, the tie-breakers to determine who plays in the championship are as follows: 1. Head to Head game result 2. Largest total goal differential (max goal differential per game is 4) 3. If still tied, then least total goals allowed. 4. If still tied, coin-flip. Championship Game If any playoff game/championship game is tied at the end of regulation: 1. Coin toss to determine kickoff or choose side of field 2. A five minute overtime will be played. All 5 minutes will be played. This is not sudden death. 3. If still tied, switch sides, play a second 5 minute overtime period. This overtime is sudden death. 4. If still tied, a 5 player shootout. The shooters and goalkeeper can be from any players on the team both on the field and on the bench. 5. If still tied, sudden death shootout. Use players not in the original 5 until the team with the shortest roster has exhausted all players then use players from the original 5 if short on players. e. If still tied, now ignoring everything that happened in c) and d) above. The sudden death shootout will continue. But, all players on a team must take a shot before a player takes their second shot. For example: in c) players A, B, C, D, E took shots. In d), players F, G took shots and then the other team exhausted all their players. Now both teams start fresh, but all must take a shot before one can take their second shot. So if this team has 10 players, you could now in e) restart and rotate A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, A, … and the other teams e) rotation could be A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A, B, … Special Tournament Considerations:
Player Ejection: If a player is ejected during a game, the ejected player must sit with the coach and a substitute may be put in the game. Ejections occur with a Red Card or two Yellow Cards issued by the referee during a single game. Players Ejected will be suspended for their next scheduled game Weather Delays or Game Cancellations: A game will be considered a completed game if the suspension of the game occurs anytime after halftime. This may be due to weather or other unforeseen issues that cause delays or suspension of game. The tournament director and an AYSO Board member will have a final ruling on suspended or cancelled games.
All other AYSO rules will remain the same. Please refer to the 2015 Twinsburg AYSO division rules Tournament Director and AYSO Board Member will be final decision on any disagreements.
