2016 UTSA Roadrunners Football UTSA 33, Charlotte 14 Saturday, Nov. 26 San Antonio, Texas · Alamodome Postgame Notes UTSA (6-6, 5-3 C-USA) · UTSA became bowl eligible for the first time in program history with tonight’s victory. The Roadrunners won seven games back in 2013, but they were in the final year of reclassifying to the Football Bowl Subdivision and not eligible to play in the postseason. UTSA now will await word on an official bowl invitation, which should come on or before next Sunday, Dec. 4. · UTSA continued its late-season success at the Alamodome as it improved to 9-2 all-time at home during the month of November. · The announced attendance of 23,807 included the one millionth fan to come through the gates of the Alamodome for a UTSA game. The Roadrunners now have drawn 1,005,495 fans in their six seasons of play (36 home games). Tonight was the secondlargest crowd of the season for UTSA (29,305 fans attended the Arizona State contest). · Today’s game captains were senior OT Gabriel Casillas, junior CB Devron Davis, senior DT Vontrell King-Williams and senior S Jordan Moore. · Twenty-two seniors made their final appearance at the Alamodome tonight. The Class of 2016 consists of TE Austin BlakeSmith, OT Gabriel Casillas, OG/T Cody Cole, RB Blake Dean, OT Jevonte Domond, S Michael Egwuagu, LB Ronnie Feist, LB Kevin Garcia, QB Jared Johnson, TE Jordan Jones, DE Ben Kane, RB Andrew King, DT Vontrell King-Williams, LB Dalton Miller, S Jordan Moore, DE Romario Napoles, DT Juan Rodriguez, TE Trevor Stevens, WR JaBryce Taylor, DE Jonathan Tuiolosega, RB Corbin White and RB Jarveon Williams. · Junior WR Kerry Thomas Jr.’s 73-yard touchdown reception from junior QB Dalton Sturm on the third play from scrimmage was the fourth-longest passing play in program history. It also was Thomas Jr.’s eighth scoring catch of the season and the 13th of his three-year career, both of which extended his school records. · Thomas Jr. finished the night with the first 100-yard performance of his career after securing five receptions for a program single-game record 145 yards. It marked the ninth 100-yard game in school annals. · Sophomore RB Jalen Rhodes’ 2-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter was his ninth of the season, which is a new UTSA single-season record. Rhodes finished the contest with 13 carries for 47 yards. · The Roadrunners’ second scoring drive of the contest, which resulted in a 21-yard field goal by sophomore PK Victor Falcon, chewed seven minutes and 45 seconds off the game clock and it easily was the team’s longest by time of possession this season (previous best: 6:55, at Middle Tennessee, second quarter touchdown). In all, UTSA possessed the ball for a season-high 38 minutes and 21 seconds. · Junior La’Kel Bass recorded one tackle for loss to push his season total to 11 and he moved into a tie with Jason Neill (2015) for UTSA’s single-season record. · Redshirt freshman LB Josiah Tauaefa led the Roadrunners with six tackles and he finished the regular season with 104, which marks the first 100-stop campaign in program history. · Junior PK Daniel Portillo booted five touchbacks to push his season total to a program-record 24. Sean Ianno previously held the school standard after kicking 21 back in 2013.
