Players of the Week Attacking Player of the Week - KINE THORSVIK, Campbell, Midfield, Senior, Aarland, Norway Thorsvik headlined Campbell’s offensive attack that scored 10 goals in its pair of matches last week. The senior posted a goal and two assists in the Camels’ 4-1 road triumph at VMI on Friday, and closed the weekend with the opening goal and an assist in a 6-0 road shutout over USC Upstate on Sunday. With her performance, she led the conference with seven points. Defensive Player of the Week - LIZ AMANDA BROWN, Charleston Southern, Goalkeeper, Junior, Coral Springs, Fla. Brown shined between the posts in Charleston Southern’s 4-0 victory Friday over The Citadel, which was previously unbeaten. The junior grabbed four saves on 11 shots faced, as the clean sheet marked her league-leading third on the season. Crons Brand Freshman of the Week - GABRIELLE FARRELL, Liberty, Forward, Freshman, Langhorne, Pa. Farrell recorded four points in Liberty’s back-to-back victories last week. The freshman handed out an assist on the eventual game-winning goal in the Flames’ 1-0 road victory over UNCG on Thursday evening. She followed that performance with a goal and an assist in Sunday’s 2-0 home triumph over George Washington. The striker closed the weekend with four points and four shots on goal.

2016 Big South Women’s Soccer Team-By-Team Notes
2016 Preseason Poll
Campbell scored 10 goals this past weekend as they visited VMI and USC Upstate. It was the highest two-match scoring output for the Camels since October of 2004. In the 4-1 win over VMI, CU saw goals from seniors KINE THORSVIK and CHRISTINE KINDT, while freshman ROSIE O’NEAL added two of her own. In the 6-0 win over the Spartans, freshman ALEXA GENAS led the team with five points on two goals and one assist in the match. Thorsvik, Kindt, HALEY THOMA and SHANNON WRATCHFORD also connected on goals for the Camels. Freshman goalkeeper NATALYA MARCOVE and the Camel defense held opponents to just one goal on the weekend. Marcove recorded 10 saves through the two matches including a career-high seven saves against USC Upstate.
Defending women’s soccer champion Liberty University has been voted the preseason favorite in the Big South Conference women’s soccer preseason poll by the league’s head coaches. Below are the poll results with total points received, including first place votes in parentheses:

GARDNER-WEBB Gardner-Webb’s match at NC State on Sunday night was the first of a five-game road swing. GWU doesn’t’ return home until October 5 vs. Liberty (7:00 pm kickoff). Sunday marked just the second time in two seasons that GWU had allowed more than two goals in a match. Gardner-Webb opens Big South play on September 24 at Longwood.
HIGH POINT High Point dropped both its nonconference matchups last week, as the Panthers fell to Clemson (4-1) and No. 6 Duke (4-1).
LIBERTY Liberty is currently on a four-game win streak after wins over UNCG and George Washington. Freshman ANNA ROACH posted her first collegiate goal in the 1-0 victory over the Spartans on Thursday thanks to assists from ABIGAIL PERSSON and GABRIELLE FARRELL. The Lady Flames followed up with a 2-0 win over George Washington, giving the Colonials, who were receiving votes in the NSCAA Coaches Poll their first loss of the season. HOLLY VAN NOORD recorded her 36th career shutout, extending her school and Big South record. Farrell and ISABELLA HABUDA lead the Lady Flames on the year with two goals, while freshman SEIRRA LAM is the team leader in assists with three. LONGWOOD Longwood split its matches last week with a 1-0 setback to American on Thursday, followed by a 1-0 victory over UMBC on Sunday.
PRESBYTERIAN Presbyterian College went 0-2 on the week. The Blue Hose traveled to Wofford to play their first road game of the year, falling 3-1. The team then came back home to host North Florida, falling in that game 2-0.
RADFORD Radford dropped its only game of the week on Sunday, falling on the road at Chattanooga 3-1. JESSICA WOLLMANN scored the goal for the Highlanders, her first of the season. Freshman NICOLE RAY recorded her first career point with an assist. Goalkeepers COURTENAY KAPLAN and KATIE McCORMICK combined for seven saves. Both of Radford’s road losses this season have come in the state of Tennessee.
UNC ASHEVILLE The Bulldogs picked up a pair of victories over USC Upstate (2-0) and South Carolina State (4-1) last week.
