Extra! Extra! READ ALL ABOUT IT!
Message from Board President
We’re excited about the upcoming spring baseball season because your player won’t be forced to play up based on their league age like other leagues.
Welcome back for another season of fall ball! My name is Mery Nuñez and I will be your President this year. I have been with the league for 10 years and have enjoyed watching many games. It is so nice to see familiar faces, as well as new ones. We are excited about our newsletter and all the information it will provide you with.
Our snack shack is cooking up some new items, be sure and check them out.
Our uniforms changed this season, and have already gotten a thumbs up from many. They are pretty sharp!
Our first ever Over The Line fundraising tournament is sure to be a hit at the end of the month. Sign up while you can! Space is limited.
I'm happy to get this season underway. I look forward to meeting more of you as the season progresses. If you see me around, stop and say hi and introduce yourself. I would love to meet you! Catch you at the fields!
While other local leagues are changing the way they determine a players league age, SVBL is staying the same. Determine your child’s league age by figuring out how old they will be on May 1, 2018. For example; if your child’s birthday is March 2, 2010, then their league age for spring will be 8 years old. For other local leagues that are changing the way they determine league age, your child would have to play as league age 9. The difference in the playing field at this age can be terrifying for these little ones that aren’t quite ready for longer base distance, further pitching difference and playing with older kids with a greater skill level. SVBL league age determination is not changing for the 2018/2019 Spring Season. So, protect your little ones, keep baseball FUN, and register them at SVBL.net. Don’t miss out on registrations dates, join our mailing list at www.SVBL.net by scrolling down on the home page and look in the left column. WIN

In Other News SVBL will be hosting its first Over-the-Line tournament on October 29th. It's a Halloween themed tournament, so come dressed in your costume ready to play.
Over the line originated on Mission Beach in San Diego and is a four-player softball-type game played on a unique, triangle-shaped field. Teams pitch to their own players and balls must be hit over designated lines to count as a hit. It's a fun adaptation of America's Pastime where you don't have to run the bases to score runs.
The proceeds from the tournament will benefit SVBL, and The Simi Cyclones Cooperstown Team. The directors of this First Annual event hope the tournament will draw kids from ages 6-16 for years to come and support Simi Valley Baseball League and our next Cooperstown team.
TOURNAMENT! See last page of newsletter to register for SVBL’s own “Over-the-Line” Halloween Tournament on 10/29. Play in costume, support SVBL and have a lot of fun!. Registration Deadline:
October 20th, 2017
