2017 Delaware Wheelchair Tennis Championships DuPont Country Club, Wilmington, DE 9/29 – 10/1, 2017 VOLUNTEER INFORMATION Clothing: You must wear sneakers – no other type of shoe will be allowed on the courts. Please wear clothing that is comfortable for the weather conditions – matches will be played outdoors. You will be provided a tee shirt and asked to wear it while you are volunteering. Food: We will have water/Gatorade and snacks available all day for volunteers. If you have food preferences, please feel free to bring your own beverages and/or goodies as you like. Ball People: Most likely you will be paired with another volunteer and asked to stand on either side of the net and retrieve balls that go into the net. Wheelchair tennis is primarily a "baseline" game so the players will appreciate you staying close to the net while they grab the balls at the back of the court. Introduce yourself to the players on your court. Offer to get water/Gatorade for them or assist them if they make a request. USTA Officials: USTA Officials will be officiating matches so you are only to pick up balls while on the court. Players will make their own calls so please do not offer any opinion about whether a ball is “in” or “out”. Please comply with any request from a USTA Official. Sponsors of the Delaware Wheelchair Tennis Championships include: Wheelchair Tennis Program of Delaware * Delaware Tennis Foundation * DuPont Country Club * Katie Kirlin Fund * USTA Middle States * Women’s Tennis Club of NCC
