2017 Mason Comet Cup Tournament Information Packet General Information: The tournament is Saturday, April 29th. The first games will begin at 8:00am and the final tournament championship game will be played at 2:30pm. The tournament will be divided into two brackets: an A, or competitive bracket and a B, or developmental bracket. We will be playing to the US Lacrosse U14 rules for refereeing and we will modify some game management rules to fit the constraints of the tournament as outlined below. Draws will be held after every goal scored. Referees decisions on the field are final. Team check in is open at 7:00 am. Please arrive at least a half hour before your first game. Bring your team waivers at this time and team registration and payment if you have not done so already. If you ordered a t-shirt from the Rokkitwear pre-tournament online store, it will be available for pick up at the main concession stand. A Bracket: Will feature a championship style format with the winners of each side of the bracket advancing to play in a championship game. As the bracket moves to the second and third round for the teams that lose, they will play in accordance to the schedule with their next opponent determined by the outcome of a previous game. Whether your team wins or loses will determine which field and opponent you play next. Therefore, you will only know what field and what opponent you play for the first game at the beginning of the day. If at the end of regulation in a game where both teams are tied, there will be a two minute break followed by a sudden death playoff. Teams will play full field games with 2 – 20 minute halves and a 5 minute halftime. There will be a running clock and a common horn to start/stop each game and halftime. Each team is guaranteed 3 games. There will be one time out per team allowed in the championship game. The championship game will also stop on the referee’s whistle. The championship bracket tournament board will be kept by the Information Station between the two turf fields. B Bracket: Will feature festival style play where each team is guaranteed 3 games against different opponents. No records will be kept for wins and loses’. Games that end in a tie will stay as a tie.

Fields: We are playing on a total of 4 fields; two turf fields and 2 grass fields. The two turf fields are in the Mason High School athletic complex and the two grass fields are located east of the turf fields in nearby Corwin Nixon park. No one has back to back games and the grass fields are easily walkable. On the grass fields, the teams will be asked to set up on the far side of the playing field and spectators should sit on the near side of the field closest to the parking lot. Parking: The best place to park is in the Mason High School parking lot (directly to the North of the turf fields). You can access this parking lot from Mason-Montgomery Rd. The entrance is at the first stoplight on Mason-Montgomery Rd. North of Tylersville Rd. Reference the Layout for more parking options. Sign-in/Registration: We must have waiver forms from each girl that will be playing. Please turn this in to the registration table/Information Booth at least 30 minutes before your first game. Team check in starts at 7:00 am. Trainers: We have dedicated trainers on-site. They will be located between the two turf fields. If you need a trainer at one of the Corwin-Nixon fields, the score keepers will be able to call them. Information Booth: The Information Booth will be located next to the vendors on the North side of the turf fields just outside of the stadium. This is information central for the bracket scoring as well as any questions you may have. Lost and found is located there also. Concessions: Along with vendor concessions, there will be a main concession stand available near the information center between the two turf fields in the tunnel. They will have Chik Fil A biscuits and gravy early and the lunch grill will fire up after 9:30 am. Vendors: We will have food, drink, snack and custom t-shirts vendors on site! • • • •

Comets Pizza will serve pizza, brats, metts and cotton candy Joe’s Mojo Coffee Truck Kona Ice Comet Cup t-shirts will be available on a first come first serve basis at the main concession stand

Team Tents: You can set up team tents in any one of three locations based on your field assignments. ** Please do not set any tents or canopies up on the turf. Available locations are: 1.) South of the tennis courts that are next to the Multi-Purpose field (this is an option if all of your games are on the turf fields). 2.) In the outfield of the softball fields between the turf fields and Corwin-Nixon (this is a good option overall and especially if the majority of your games are on the turf). 3.) At Corwin Nixon – in front of Field 3 just as you enter the park (this is a good option if the majority of your games are at Corwin Nixon). See the attached area map for the above tent locations. Weather: So far so good. The forecast calls for a pretty dry week and “Cloudy and very warm 83⁰ with a T-Storm in spots”. If it rains will play as long as lightning is not present. There is a corridor running between the two stadiums that has protection from the rain and will serve as our severe weather gathering point. Make sure your girls stay hydrated and bring sunblock. I’m making sure my girls bring raingear too – just in case. Be ready for anything April can throw at us. It is not supposed to be that windy so team tents should come in handy. The grass fields at Corwin-Nixon should be in good shape. Contact Information: If you have questions or need assistance during the tournament, please stop by the Information Booth.
