2017 Spring Fun Day Machine Pitch Tournament Objective: Create an opportunity for the kids to relax and enjoy Spring Fun Day. Rules: These rules will govern play throughout the tournament up to and including the Championship Game.
The purpose of the 2017 Spring Fun Day tournament is to have fun! 1. Flip for Home or Visitors. a. Have Fun 2. Games are 1 inning. No more. Even if you finish 1 inning in 20 minutes, your game is done. If game hits 30 minutes, team with most runs wins, if it is tied, tie breaker rules below take effect a. Have Fun 3. Bat all players (Each team must bat the same number of players. Any team with fewer players will continue through to the top of the order again to equal the number of players on the other team.) a. Have Fun 4. Each batter will have three pitches to hit, he may continue if he fouls off the 3rd pitch until the completion of his turn. a. Have Fun 5. After first six batters, six new players must fill all infield positions. Three of the previous infielders go to the bench and the other three go to the outfield. (4 outfielders for 7 and 8 year old divisions) a. Have Fun 6. Outs are cumulative and base-runners are NOT cleared at any time during the game. a. Have Fun 7. Winner is determined by most runs scored. a. Have Fun 8. No Umpires will be at games. Coach’s, parents, whoever has an ORWALL issued spring 2017 badge can help umpire. a. Have Fun 9. Each team will need to select an umpire and place him/her on either 1st or 3rd base. a. Have Fun
10. Pitchers will stand in adjacent to machine. Pitchers must wear batting helmet. a. Have Fun 11. No bunting / No stealing/No dropped third strike rule a. Have Fun 12. A BATTED ball that hits the machine (or MP Operator) is a dead ball and batter is awarded 1B. Runners advance ONLY IF FORCED. THROWN ball hitting machine is a live ball. a. Have Fun 13. Machine Pitch Speeds: A. 7 Premier and 7/8 Elite – 42mph. B. 8 Premier – 45 mph C. 9 Premier 40 mph D. 10 Premier 40 mph E. 9/10 Elite 40 mph F. INT Premier and INT Elite 50 MPH G. JR/SR 55 mph 14. Team on Offence is responsible for feeding the machine. a. Have Fun Tiebreakers: Games ending in a tie will be determined using the following (highest number determines the winner): o o o o o o
1st Tiebreaker is Total Number of Put Outs (Important note: A strikeout is considered a put out.) 2nd Tiebreaker is Total Number of Runners Left On ALL Bases 3rd Tiebreaker is Total Number of Runners Left On 3rd Base 4th Tiebreaker is Total Number of Runners Left On 2nd Base 5th Tiebreaker is Total Number of Runners Left On 1st Base 6th Tiebreaker is a Coin Flip
