Camp Philosophy Volleyball is one of the largest sports in the NCAA for women and offers more scholarships for woman than any other sport. Beach volleyball is the fasted growing sport currently and more and more local high school athletes are getting the opportunity to play some type of volleyball at the collegiate level! The coaching staff at Gwynedd Mercy University is committed to educating future volleyball players in accordance with the NCAA's Division III mission which values the athlete as a student first. Thus, we want our campers to be students of the game and ascertain both the mental and physical skill set to prepare them for the next level.

Camp Director Coach Johnson Kristen Johnson became the head coach of the Gwynedd Mercy University Volleyball Program in May 2017. A 2010 graduate of Hope College, Johnson played for the highly successful Flying Dutch as she was a major part of two MIAA Conference Championships and three appearances in the Division III Tournament. As a senior, Johnson was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year and an all-region honorable mention as Hope advanced to the semifinals of the national tournament and set a school record for most wins in a season. Post Hope, Johnson earned her Master’s Degree from the Princeton Seminary in 2013. While in New Jersey, she coached and played on the Princeton University Club Team and took part in Princeton’s Summer Volleyball Camps and spent time assisting the North Brunswick High School Varsity and JV Teams. She was also the head coach at Westtown School for two years.
