SANTA CLARA-ALUM ROCK BUS RAPID TRANSIT PROJECT CONSTRUCTION NOTICE – 24th Street Effective: June 22, 2015 The following will be in effect as indicated, weather and conditions permitting: WHAT:
Construction activities will be diverting traffic to the outside curbside lanes in each direction. Southbound traffic will also be closed on 24th Street beginning Monday, June 22, 2015. Detours and signage will be provided to assist travel in this area. Bicycle traffic will share the westbound lane during the curb-side lane closure. Temporary signs will indicate that the open lane is to be shared between bicycles and vehicles. Pedestrian access to sidewalk & businesses will be maintained. Pedestrian traffic will be controlled by a flagger as needed to facilitate a safe working environment. Activities include and are not limited to: Demolition, grinding and paving of parts of the existing roadway
WHEN:
Monday, June 22, 2015 for approximately 5 days. 7 am to 4 pm daily. Work will cease during the lunch hour (noon-1pm).
WHERE:
E. Santa Clara Street at 24th Street.
DETOUR:
Westbound traffic will be diverted to the north side of Santa Clara Street and eastbound traffic will be shifted with a lane taper west of 23rd Street and will return to the normal configuration east of 24th Street. Southbound traffic on 24th Street will be restricted through the intersection. Left-turns onto 24th Street from Alum Rock Avenue will be restricted. Left turns from northbound 24th Street to Alum Rock will also be restricted. Detour will be in place to re-route traffic to S. 24th Street.
NOTES:
For the safety of the public and construction workers, traffic control measures and signage will be used when needed. Information and warning signs will be posted to ensure safety. Construction crews will make every effort to maintain access and minimize inconvenience to motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, businesses and neighbors.
