3-on-3 Basketball All NCAA Collegiate Basketball Rules will apply, except for the following modifications: General Rules 1. Teams must play with three players on the court. a. At least one male and female must be on the court at all times for co-rec games. 2. Only the team captain, who may or may not be a participating player, may consult with the referee. This is permitted ONLY during a dead ball. 3. Substitutions are ONLY permitted during time outs, injuries, and dead balls. 4. Any unsportsmanlike conduct will result in immediate ejection from the game and possible suspension from the league or tournament. 5. No player may play for more than one team. Any team using an ineligible player will forfeit all games in which he or she has played. 6. Athletic attire is required for all games, including non-marking sneakers (no black, waffled sneakers). See Coles' Procedure Guide for further information. Jerseys or pinnies will be provided for the teams if teams are not wearing distinct colors. Game Format 1. The designated “away” team on the schedule will select one player to shoot a three point shot from the top of the three point arc. If he/she makes it, they will begin with possession to start the game. If they miss the attempted shot, the opposing team will begin with possession. Alternating possessions after each made basket will be in effect afterwards. 2. Each game is played to 40 points (win by one) or to a time limit of 25 minutes. 3. ALL field goals are worth 2 point. Shots behind the bonus arc are worth three points. Any free throw is worth 1 point. 4. Losers' ball after each basket (ball changes possession after each point) unless it is a foul committed on a successful field goal, in which the scoring team receives the ball. 5. Each team has one thirty-second timeout per game (including overtime). 6. For each change of possession (by hitting the rim or back board), the ball must be cleared to the free throw line. Shots that do not hit the rim and are rebounded by the opposing team, as well as steals or change of possession without a shot taken, DO NOT require clearance. 7. All personal fouls will result with the fouled team receiving the ball at the top of the key. If a team has accumulated 5 team fouls, all free throws will be a one-and-one scenario. 1. All participants will be disqualified after their fourth foul. 8. Intentional stalling will warrant a warning from the designated official. If the lack of play continues, the official can call a delay of game infraction on the game, which would result in a change of possession. 9. Technical and intentional fouls will result in two free throw and possession of the ball. ALL REFEREE DECISIONS ARE FINAL
