4v4 Soccer League Winter 2018 Registration Period: January 8th – January 24th League Dates: January 29th – February 21st Teams will be scheduled 1-2 games a week, Monday through Thursday, games starting on the hour from 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM. No fee to play! Intramural Sports Handbook  All participants are required to adhere to the policies of Campus Recreation. Fields  Games will be played at the Bill Gessner Sports Complex located on 39th St., next to the elementary school. Players & Rosters  Men’s/Women’s: Games will be played 4v4. A minimum of three players is necessary to start the game.  Co-Rec: Games will be played 4v4. One gender may not exceed more than 2 players. A minimum of three players is necessary to start the game.  Eligibility: All participants must be either current NSU students, or NSU Faculty/Staff that have an active Rec Well membership.  All participants must being their valid NSU ID to play.  Players must have joined their team’s IMLeagues roster by 4:00PM the day of the game to be able to participate that day. Timing  Games will be played with two 20-minute halves. Substitutions  Substitutions can only be made during the following dead ball situations: o Goal kicks and corner kicks o After a goal o During an injury timeout Start of Game Procedures  RPS: Rock, paper, scissors will determine the choice of kicking off in the first or the second half.



Game play will begin at the half-field line with a kick-off. The opposing team must remain outside of the circle until the first contact has been made on the ball.

Game Play  Games will be played without a goalie.  Players will not be called for being in an offside position.  Teams cannot score on their defensive half of the field.  Players are not allowed to slide tackle.  Goal Area: A box marked around each goal. o Players are not allowed in the goal area. o Defensive players are only allowed in the goal area if they are retrieving a stationary ball. o A free kick will be given to the other team if a player enters the box.  Corner Kicks: Occur when the ball crosses the end line and is last touched by a defender. A goal can be scored directly on a corner kick. Opponents must stay at least three yards away from the kick.  Goal Kicks: Occur when the ball crosses the end line and is last touched by an offensive player. Goal kicks are kicked from anywhere on or inside the line marking the goal area. Opponents must be outside the goal area until the ball crosses the line.  Free Kicks: Occur when a foul or penalty is called on a team. Opposing players must stand at least three yards away from the spot of the ball. All free kicks will be indirect. o Indirect: Another player (offensive or defensive) besides the kicker must touch the ball before a goal can be scored.  Throw-Ins: Occur when the ball goes out of bounds over the sidelines. The ball must be thrown from above one’s head. Players must use two hands and both feet must remain on the ground during the entire throw-in. Penalties and Fouls  Players will call their own penalties and fouls including: pushing, tripping, obstruction, holding, unintentional hand-balls, going into the goal area, slide-tackling, and unsportsmanlike conduct.  Intramural Supervisors will be able to stop play and eject a participant, if deemed necessary. Please read the Intramural Handbook. It contains written descriptions of all regulations and policies that govern participation in NSU Intramural Sports, no matter which sport or activity you play. It’s imperative to the continuity of the Intramural program that all participants abide by the regulations detailed in the Handbook by the Office of Recreation and Wellness. Sportsmanship Guidelines Good sportsmanship is required of all participants to preserve fair play, and the safety of others. All players, fans, and spectators are to conduct themselves in a proper manner before, during, and after any and all Intramural events. Any individuals found to be acting in an unsporting manner will not be tolerated, and may be removed from the playing facility.
