Racquetball League Winter 2018 Registration Period: February 26th – March 16th Leagues Dates: March 16th – April 6th, every Friday. Courts All games will be played in the racquetball courts on the second floor of the RecPlex located in the University Center. Players & Rosters A single male or female may play in the Men’s Single and Women’s Single leagues. Eligibility: All participants must be either current NSU students, or NSU Faculty/Staff that have an active Rec Well membership. All participants must being their valid NSU ID to play. Game Format A match will consist of best 2 out of 3 games. The first two games will be played to 15 points. Cap of 15. The third game, if necessary, will be played to 15 points. No cap, win by two. Equipment Rackets may be checked out from the front desk of the Recreation and Wellness Center. Racquetballs will be provided. Goggles are strongly recommended. Serve 1. Single fault- Resulting in one more attempt. a. The served ball hits the front wall and then the ceiling. b. The served ball hits the front wall and then the back wall before hitting the ground (long serve). c. The served ball hits the front wall and then the ground before passing the service zone (short serve).
d. The served ball hits the front wall and then two side walls before hitting the ground (3 walls). e. The served ball passes so close to the server that the receiver could not see it on the way back (screen serve). 2. Double fault- Resulting in a Side Out. a. The server swings and misses the ball. b. The served ball does not hit the front wall first. c. The served ball hits the server on the way back. d. Two consecutive single faults. A. Scoring Points can only be scored by the server. B. Rallying Players alternate hits. The player who hits the ball must hit the ball before it bounces twice on the ground. The ball may be played off any wall(s) as long as it hits the front wall before it hits the ground. If a player hits the other player with the ball, the rally is replayed. If a player touches the ball while it is the other players’ turn to hit, the first player loses the rally. If the ball is hit out of play (over the back wall), a replay occurs no matter who hits the ball. Please read the Intramural Handbook. It contains written descriptions of all regulations and policies that govern participation in NSU Intramural Sports, no matter which sport or activity you play. It’s imperative to the continuity of the Intramural program that all participants abide by the regulations detailed in the Handbook by the Office of Recreation and Wellness. Sportsmanship Guidelines Good sportsmanship is required of all participants to preserve fair play, and the safety of others. All players, fans, and spectators are to conduct themselves in a proper manner before, during, and after any and all Intramural events. Any individuals found to be acting in an unsporting manner will not be tolerated, and may be removed from the playing facility.
