Welcome to Highfield

Sunday 7 September 2014

‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.’ Psalm 46:1

8am Holy Communion - Order Two Erica Roberts

The news continues to fill our homes with the horror of the continuing crisis in the Middle East. The response to the Iraq appeal has been overwhelming, with over £4,000 raised here in Highfield and over £800,000 through Open Doors. Let’s continue to respond by praying with urgency for our brothers and sisters in Iraq, that they would indeed know God as their refuge and strength. Erica Roberts

Shine Today

Shine Registration Forms

Welcome back! The children need to go straight to their groups today as it’s Holy Communion. Scramblers, Climbers and Explorers will come in at 10.10 with their leaders. If your child is in Creche, Wobblers or Tumblers please collect them from their groups at 10.10. The new Shine programmes and the latest ‘Parents as Partners’ are now available. They will be mailed to you in the next couple of weeks but please do take a copy from the Shine desk if you would like one sooner.

It is important that all children in our Shine groups are registered and that we have up to date information. Over the next few weeks we are having a ‘yellow form amnesty’ with the aim that by the end of the month every child has a registration form which is up to date and held by their group leader. Parents, please can you ….Check that your child has a Shine registration form (the leaders will put them out for you) Check that the details are up to date. Thank you.

Please join Doug and Jackie Wakeling for lunch in the Church Centre, 12.30pm on Sunday 14 September. We will provide drinks and puddings if you would bring enough finger food for the first course for you and 1-2 others. It will give us a chance to hear from Doug and Jackie before they return to Papua New Guinea to continue their work with Mission Aviation Fellowship. Parenting Lending Library

English Classes at Highfield

We have a small lending library of books focussing on nurturing children’s faith, available to borrow. They can be found in a tub on the Shine registration desk during 9.15 or the cafe area at 11. Please sign out all loaned books and return to the box rather than swapping amongst yourselves. Please aim to read and return books within 2 weeks, that would be appreciated. Thank you to Merrielle Billington for being ‘Chief Librarian’. Please let Merrielle, Helen or Sammy know any suggestions for books to add to the library.
