GLOVIS SANGAMAM PROJECT REPORT – AUG 2015 Glovis Sangamam project is continuing to support the 8 schools in Thiruvallur Dist. Here is a report of the various activities that took place during the month of July 2015. Teacher Training All the teachers from Project Sangamam as well as all other Asha Chennai projects came to Chennai for English Language training on 22nd August at Olcott Memorial School. The training session was held by Mrs. Rekha Balakrishnan, a Cambridge certified teacher trainer. The training taught the teachers how to compose simple grammatically correct sentences. There were also several exercises to get them to try this. There was also a session in the afternoon to teach them how to plan for a lesson to their classes. Earlier in the month, on 11th August, 4 teachers came with Srinivasan to Rajaram’s residence for some training on computers. While some time was spent in discussing the work assignments of the two computer teachers Sailaja and Santhasophya, we also spent some time teaching them office tools and how to use the computers better. Computer Maintenance Our efforts of maintaining computers at various schools continued during August as well. Black Board Painting We undertook the repainting of all the black boards in the 8 schools and 4 Balwadis this month. It was completed. All the schools and Balwadis now sport a nice clean Black board. Assessment Analysis The analysis of the assessments that were conducted in April are complete. The initial analysis of the performance of the various schools with further break up by learning concepts was completed and shared with all the teachers and the trainers. We will also share this with Hyundai Glovis shortly.
Upcoming Events Intial set of materials for the schools will be distributed in September. We will distribute Educational Materials, Sports Materials, Plates, Tumblers and Water drums to the schools in September. The computers repair effort will continue and the expectations will be for the initial set of 5 teachers to start using their computer effectively. We will giving laptops to 3 more teachers in September. The teacher training will continue with a session on Maths by trainers from Ramanujan Museum and Centre for Math.
