ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools in a non-profit organization created in 2007 to transform historically under-served schools and serve as a scalable transformation model for Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the State of California, and the nation. The Partnership dramatically accelerates achievement for students in the district’s highest-need schools by operating a network of 18 schools (14,000-student enrollment) in Boyle Heights, South LA, and Watts. The Partnership is one of the largest public school turnaround initiatives in the nation. Over their first seven years, Partnership schools have more than doubled their four-year graduation rate from 36% to 77%. Furthermore, in the first year of the new Common-Core aligned Smarter Balanced exams, the Partnership closed the proficiency gap to LAUSD by 4% points in English and 9% points in math. POSITION OVERVIEW The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools is seeking an Academic Support Associate, who will serve as an administrative support for the Partnership’s 20-person Academic Team. The Associate’s core duties and responsibilities will focus on setting team members up for success by providing logistics and scheduling support, providing administrative assistance for a variety of projects, tracking some team budgets, and preparing for meetings. This individual will serve as a key member of the Partnership staff and have a significant impact on the team’s capacity to meet its goals. RESPONSIBILITIES The Academic Support Associate’s key responsibilities include the following and may be adjusted based on Academic Team needs:  Support A Team members by providing logistics support and any supporting materials for all scheduled meetings and professional development events  Work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders, including Partnership home office staff, school staff, LAUSD and other partners  Support the scheduling of individual and team meetings as needed  Prepare Academic Team meeting materials as requested  Interact with school site staff at the Partnership’s 17 schools, handling requests and questions and re-directing questions as needed  Collect and format content for a bi-monthly School Leader Briefing email containing must-have information for all Partnership school leaders  Track expenditures for key Academic Team budgets; request payments on invoices and manage purchasing of supplies and materials

 



Administer and upkeep the Partnership home office’s knowledge management systems to ensure codification and archiving of our work Provide overall administrative support to home office and school site staff as requested, including by greeting home office visitors and directing them to appropriate personnel and by supporting meeting preparation as needed Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have: Experience  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university  3 years of experience in an administrative capacity (education organization or other professional setting preferred)  Experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment  Knowledge of schools, school systems, or education support organizations Skills  Outstanding organizational skills  Excellent verbal and written communication skills  Strong computer and technology skills; proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint, and Excel  Interest and willingness to learn new skills and grow professionally  Collaborative, willing to meet needs of the CSO and three Senior Directors of School Transformation  Able to manage competing demands and determine top priorities independently  Able to work under pressure and perform tasks with limited direction  Great attention to detail; can provide high quality, error-free results  Proactive; takes initiative to move work forward Core Beliefs  Strong belief in the Partnership’s mission, approach, and core values  Enthusiasm to help build a strong, effective Partnership team  Clear focus on providing excellent customer service  Humility and respect for coworkers, principals, teachers, students, and parents  Reflective of own work  Life-long learner
