Adopt a Treasure and help to preserve the history of medicine in Ireland The Heritage Centre at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland holds a unique collection of rare books, manuscripts, antique medical instruments and works of art relating to the College and the history of medicine in Ireland. The preservation and restoration of our collections is an ongoing challenge. We invite you to Adopt a Treasure and sponsor the restoration of some of the most fragile and valuable items in our collections. With your help we can preserve the history of medicine in Ireland for future generations.
HOW TO ADOPT A TREASURE
ADOPT A TREASURE – Form for postal donations
Treasures can be adopted by individuals or groups, and can also be adopted on behalf of someone as a gift or to mark a special occasion.
I would like to adopt the following Treasure from the Adopt a Treasure priority list
There are two ways to adopt a treasure: 1. You can select a specific treasure for adoption from our priority list. This list includes treasures from our archive, library and heritage collections that urgently require repair and restoration. You can view the list of priority treasures on our website www.rcpi.ie/adopt . Alternatively you can contact us at the RCPI Heritage Centre and we will be happy to post or email a copy to you. 2. You don’t have to choose a specific treasure. You can simply make a donation to the Adopt a Treasure programme and we will use it to restore treasures most in need.
Cost € Or I would like to make a donation towards the conservation programme of: €50
Once you have decided how you would like to adopt a treasure, you can make a donation online or complete the attached form and return it to the Heritage Centre. As soon as a treasure has been selected for adoption it will be sent to a team of experts for specialist conservation.
