Skeleton that looks like sci-fi monster found in kitchen

Ditching tax discs may cost us £167m

Alien: Renovation by Chris Bradley with Technotronic, was told he needed to dry out floorboards at his home in Altcar, Lancashire. ‘When I took one of them off there was a collection of cleaning products... and there was this weird nest and inside it was this thing,’ the 55-

year-old said. ‘I have no idea what it is but when I saw it I thought of the Alien that bursts out of John Hurt’s chest in the film. I took some photos and threw it away.’ Alien in Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic stalks the crew of the spaceship Nostromo after using hapless Kane, played by Hurt, as a host. Swiss surrealist artist HR Giger won an Oscar for his design.

The gold ring – inscribed ‘AJ a SC’ and dated June 16, 1990 – was found by Clare Owen at Sunderland FC’s Stadium of Light in 2012. Now the 31-yearold, who began lost and found business Lost Box, hopes her Facebook followers – from 109 countries – can help find the owner before her 25th wedding anniversary in 2015. ‘If that was me, I’d be devastated,’ she said.

SCRAPPING tax discs could cost the taxpayer £167million a year as dodgers try to play the system, the RAC has warned. Almost two-thirds of motorists believe a switch to electronic monitoring will also increase the number of untaxed vehicles on the road, a poll by the organisation showed. RAC chief engineer David Bizley said the shortfall would ‘far exceed’ the £10million that would be saved by ditching paper discs from October 1.

The grisly remains and a cocoonlike nest were found by Kevin Rea after he called a plumber to fix a leaking tap. Mr Rea, a former record label boss who worked
