Allamanda Quilters Meeting … June 27, 2017 Our meeting today was brought to order with a welcome to our 4H Basics and Beyond Club. They were here for their annual visit of thanks and sharing… and several showed some of their works over the past year. Family members and some of our helpers from other chapters were also with us. Carlie Taylor was presented with a scholarship check for $1000 from Allamanda. She had been in Basics and Beyond from the beginning and always as President. Following the 4H group’s sharing, Allamanda members had Show and Tell time to encourage the youth in what they can do someday. After this we had a break with cookies and drinks. After asking if anyone would want to sew next Tuesday, Melanie said that she would tell Allamanda that they do not have to set up for us on July 4. She will email a notice to everyone . Melanie then read a thank you from the Infant and Toddler Pantry for the quilts they were given. These were rag quilts from the 4H group. There were no corrections for the minutes. The treasurer will send her report by email this week . Pat Pipa, Program Chairman, said that the July 4 Guild meeting will be cancelled due to the holiday. There will be Open Sewing at Rohan from 9 am – 3:30 pm on July 5. Our July 11 meeting will be dedicated to sewing pillowcases for Smiles for Ryan. Melanie has resent the pattern so you can bring pre-cut pieces if you like. August 1 Guild meeting will have an ice cream social in the afternoon with a Christmas in August theme. Members are asked to set up tables with handmade Christmas items. ( Pat Pipa said that she has enough ladies doing this now ). On September 5 Linda Hungerford will hold a Trunk Show. Her class has been sold out. Looking ahead, January meeting will be a anniversary party where we are asked to showcase what we have been doing. Suggested that we should include things by our 4H Club. PAT will be sending out information on other things …. PLEASE GO to the WEBSITE to check programs. Also check flyers on the bulletin board each week. [email protected] Service groups… Pattie Barrett asked again for help at our Saturday, July 15 4H sewing. We really need one experienced lady for each child learning to sew. Please call Pattie to let her know that you can help … 352-259-7957. Jo Loder reported that labels are ready for any charity quilts, if you have asked for them or will need them in the future. There will be information requested that the Guild needs to have to show that we are indeed a charity organization. Linda Marshall sends “sunshine” cards so please let her know when someone might need one. She will be sending another to Carolyn Page as she has complications again. Please remember that your own personal notes are always appreciated by anyone and our roster has addresses. Mary Kahlow has name tags if you have ordered one and will take orders anytime. Lois Rose asked for votes on what we want to do for MarketPlace and what we would like to see offered as “Chance Prizes” …
Our choices for Volunteer Tasks… Exit Survey and Drawing……Door Monitor…..Vendor Angels Our suggested prizes … Shop Credit at the shop of winner’s choice…Mastercard/Visa Gift Card… Credit for tickets to The Sharon. There will also be tasks before January. Cathy Barlow said that ALL of us will be asked to deliver notices to our clubs in rec centers, to our churches, to neighbor friends etc. Will be looking for someone to head the golf cart parade. We will need a golf cart, ladies to decorate, someone to drive etc. Watch for application to be sent. B.J. has agreed to head our Holiday Party for January. PLEASE let her know that you would like to help. It was suggested that we send a notice to ALL our members regarding the need for 4H help. The meeting was closed with 50 /50 .
