7th December 2016 Dear Parent/Carer, Alton Castle Retreat Centre Monday 23rd January - Wednesday 25th January 2017 Congratulations, your son/daughter has been successful on gaining a place for this year’s trip to the Alton Castle Retreat Centre. We have received your deposit, many thanks. The remaining balance of £65 was due on Wednesday 30th November. If you have already sent it, many thanks. We would like to invite you to an information evening, on Monday 9th January at 6pm, in the school chapel. This will be your opportunity to ask any questions about the trip, and for us to explain an overview of the experience. This includes travel, full board, use of all equipment and facilities at the Castle. We have received your deposit, now the remaining £65 is due. Payment for the visit may be made in the following way: ParentPay The following can be paid via ParentPay online using your ParentPay account: The remaining balance of £65 must be paid by Wednesday 14th December. Holdall / Suit Case Sleeping bag Personal toiletries (to include Tooth brush/paste, shower gel, shampoo) Pair Pyjamas Personal Medication (Epipens, Asthma Inhalers, travel sickness prophylaxis etc.) Personal pocket money - in change where possible (in a clearly labelled purse or wallet, No more than £10)

1 Towel 2 large plastic bags (for soggy wet clothes) 4 T Shirts 3 Pairs loose fitting trousers/ jogging trousers (Not Jeans) 1 Thick pullover or fleece jacket 2 Warm long-sleeved sweatshirt or equivalent 1 Water and windproof jacket 1 Waterproof trousers 5 Pair walking socks 5 Pairs underwear 1 Pair old trainers 1 Pair indoor shoes (Not Slippers) 1* Pair walking boots or Wellington boots 1 Warm hat and gloves (winter) Optional items 1 Torch Please note that one set of clothes should be slightly smarter for Mass and evening entertainments. Parents should not feel obliged to purchase new clothing for the retreat. Items marked with a * can be provided by Alton Castle if necessary and subject to availability as our stocks are limited. Alton Castle recommends that Students do not bring mobile phones, i-pods, MP3 players or other electronic gadgets on retreat. Visitors are not allowed to use their own electrical appliances in the Castle (i.e. Hairdryers, straighteners etc.) Please note that expensive items such as watches and cameras are brought at the owners’ own risk. Remember when you arrive at the centre you will have to carry your own bags some distance to your room. Please make sure they are not too heavy for you to carry by yourself.
