SUMMARY: Instructor will teach Computer Repair and Networking in a classroom setting to secondary and adult students at MDTC. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must meet Career Tech requirements to hold or qualify for a Standard or Provisional Career Technology Teaching Certificate and have a minimum of two years’ experience in the occupation. Three years of Information Technology experience in the subject field within the past five years is preferred. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Recommend Comp TIA A+ & Network+ certification or working toward certification. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBIITIES: Directly supervises secondary and adult students in the class. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training students, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Instructs students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audio visual aids and other materials to supplement presentations. 2. Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school. 3. Assigns lessons and corrects homework. 4. Administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress. Tests all program completers with state competency test For students not performing at proper level the teacher will write a plan of improvement to meet state requirements. 5. Maintains discipline in classroom. Meets with parents to discuss student progress and problems. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, teacher training workshops, advisory committee meetings and open house. Performs related duties such as sponsoring activities or student organizations, assisting pupils in job placement, assists students in placement on OJT and supervises students while they are assigned. Prepares students for work related jobs upon completion of course. Participates in IEP meetings when appropriate and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of special needs students. Prepares adequate lesson plans for substitute when teacher is absent. Responsible for having emergency lesson plans on file in the principal’s office for emergency situation. Other duties as assigned by administrators.
