In June 2013 AOII celebrated its International Convention on Chicago on the Magnificent Mile. Chrissy Minadeo, pictured at right with members of Phi Lambda Samantha Marscio and Taylor Clark, Phi Lambda Chapter Adviser Ashley Sarna and Executive Board Vice President Karen Galehan (L to R), represented the MVAC as our president. International Convention affords many opportunities for meeting AOIIs from across the U. S. and Canada as well as business activities in support of the future our organization.
During event the MVAC was recognized for having achieved Ruby level on our Standards of Excellence and was also recognized at the individual Network 2 celebration for accomplishing such a large task in only a few short months after being installed just the previous October.

A week of educational sessions, business sessions, luncheons, and beautiful dinner receptions were concluded with Rose Banquet and the singing of the Epsilon as all 900 attendees and their joined hands in celebration of our 116 years of sisterhood and friendship. Sisters shared smiles and hugs as the last night of another truly special convention came to an end.
Smoke Out Arthritis! The Phi Lambda chapter hosted its first annual Smoke Out Arthritis event this year, and members of the MVAC were ready to lend their support. In addition to financial contributions, the MVAC members donated their time to help make this event a successful one. Partnering with Guy's BBQ of Youngstown as well as members of MVAC and other local direct sales vendors, the Phi Lambda chapter raised over $2000.00!

2012-2013
A message from AOII Foundation Ambassador Annalise Sinclair: As an alumna, I have often found myself stumbling upon the most random of things that remind me of the organization. From having the compulsive need to purchase every available panda themed baby item for an expecting mother to noticing every single image of wheat printed on food packaging at the grocery store, I am constantly drawn to AOII. Thus, when the opportunity to help Secure the Future of Alpha Omicron Pi by supporting the Foundation as an Ambassador arose, I immediately jumped at the chance. While an undergraduate, I constantly heard about the Foundation, but knew little about its purpose. Established in 1977, the AOII Foundation is a separate entity from the Fraternity and strives to support the future of AOII through leadership development, scholarships, and philanthropic endeavors. There are four main areas that the Foundation sponsors through funding and grants. First of these are Diamond Jubilee Scholarships that are awarded annually to undergraduate students, graduate students, and returning alumnae. I, myself, was fortunate enough to receive one for the 2013-2014 academic year, which is helping me in my pursuit of a Master’s degree at Kent State University. Second is the Ruby Fund that assists sisters in dire need and is considered the “Heart Fund” of AOII. Some of our sisters have experienced some devastating blows, such as weather-related disasters, loss of income, or personal crisis, and the Ruby Fund strives to provide assistance to those sisters in need. Next is the disbursement of educational grants that provide funding for Educational Leadership Consultants (ELCs), Network Director and Chapter Advisor Training, and Leadership Academy scholarships. In the 2013-2014 academic year alone, $126,348 has been given for educational grants! Finally, the AOII Foundation supports our International Philanthropy, the Arthritis Foundation, in the form of arthritis research grants, grants to support Juvenile Arthritis camps and programs, and mini-grant donations to local Arthritis Foundation chapters. Since its inception, AOII has donated over $2 million in grants to the Arthritis Foundation. Next is the big question: how can you be a part of these amazing accomplishments and help secure the future of Alpha Omicron Pi? The Fraternity has many needs for our AOII sisters, and current donations are not enough to meet those needs. Imagine skipping one cup of Starbucks’ coffee a week each monththat is about $5 per month, $60 per year. Now imagine if each woman in the Mahoning Valley Alumnae Association did the same. In one year, we would have enough money for a scholarship for one deserving AOII sister. That is the power of a $5 per month donation!
