Apple Tree Valhalla
August 2014
Back To School! DATES TO REMEMBER Aug 18th: 1st day of school for Public School Aug 21st: 1st day of school for Harrisburg Sept 1st: Labor Day Center Closed
It seems strange to say that school is right around the corner. It seems like summers get shorter every year. We have a few housekeeping items that we need to take care of before the start of school…. If your child will leave after the summer, please stop in the office for a 2 Week Withdrawal Notice. School Age rates will change to the Before/ After School Age rate of $87.00 the week of August 18th. If you are leaving for the school year but want to make sure to hold your spot for next summer, please pay the $25 holding fee to ensure your child has an amazing summer in 2015! If any of your school information has changed, please let us know so that we schedule your child to ride the correct van to and from school. Looking forward to a great school year, but will miss the faces that have been with us this summer. Can’t wait to see you next summer!!!
Happy Birthday To Apple Tree Happy Birthday to Apple Tree Valhalla on the 18th! We turn 28 this year. Please join us after 4:00pm on Monday, August 18th for a piece of cake at our birthday party! We look forward to many more years of sharing the lives of our children and families.
Local Best! Apple Tree is celebrating 10 years of being The Local Best! Tell your friends! Get them to come in for a tour and get a $25 credit! If they enroll you get a free week of tuition! It is definitely worth talking to a few people for a week of tuition!!
Friendly Reminder We may be a little nutty sometimes, but we do not allow nuts or any nut products of any kind in the center. This includes peanut butter sandwiches or granola bars that are brought in the morning for breakfast or for lunch. Sunflower butter is allowed because it is made from sun flower seeds.
Pro Care: Check In It is very important that all families check
their children in and out on a daily basis. Attendance is used for helping maintain ratios and collecting hours for state accounts. Page 2

Oh Mr. Sun Hot weather is upon us (finally). All children are welcome to bring water bottles to Apple Tree, but we ask that the water bottle is taken home regularly to be washed. Only water should be in the water bottles. Don’t forget to write your child’s name on them.
The Wheels On The Bus... During the school year, the vans leave at 7:25am to take the kids to school. If your child is not here at that time, they will miss the van. It is not necessary to let us know if your child will not ride the van in the morning. If your child will not ride the van from school in the afternoon, it is very important that you write it on the Weekly Note Sheet that is located on the School Age bulletin board in the middle area. If it is a last minute thing, you need to call and let us know that we will not need to pick up your child from school. Please let us know before 2:00pm. We wait at the school until every child is on the van or located. Please make sure your contact information is updated for us in case we need to call you. Schools we van to: Harrisburg Explorer: start 8:15am, end 3:15pm Laura Wilder: start 8:00am, end 2:45pm Discovery: start 8:00am, end 2:45pm Oscar Howe: start 8:00am, end 2:45pm JFK: start 7:50am, out 2:35pm Pettigrew: start 8:10am, end 2:55pm
Variety Show
The School Agers are once again geared up for their “variety show” performances! This year we will perform at: Prairie Creek, Trail Ridge, Primrose, and the Inn on Westport. Of course they will have their parent performance on the 5th at 5:00pm. We are always so proud of our kids because they are so talented and outgoing. We have lots of fun performing and we know that our audiences enjoy it as well. We have actually been called to book performances for next year! You are rockin’ with Apple Tree Valhalla kids!
Reminders! We participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program. CACFP is available to all participants without regard to race, color, national origin, sex or disability.
Open toe and open back shoes are not allowed at Apple Tree. Our newsletters and other information come via email if possible. Please let us know if you change your email address. If you don’t receive any notes from us, it may be that we don’t have an address for you. Feel free to stop in the office and check! Updating information is always very important. If you have a new job, phone number, address, etc. please do not forget to let us know so we can change the information on your emergency card.

[email protected] [email protected] Toys from home can only be brought on days that are specified. In most of the preschool rooms, there is usually a theme or letter of the week that the Show and Tell is based on. That means that you could bring a sea shell if the letter is “s” or the theme is ocean. Show and Tell does not have to be a toy. The toddler rooms do not have Show and Tell and therefore no toys should be brought from home. The school age children are allowed toys from home on Fridays only. As with anything brought to Apple Tree, please be sure their name or initials are on the item you bring. Apple Tree is not responsible for lost or damaged items.
Children are a gift from the Lord, they are a reward from him. Psalms 127:3
