The resurrection of Christ changes everything. Most of the world, when Jesus rose that Sunday morning, had no idea, but the biggest change in human history before or since, had happened. Most people fear death. The finality, the possibility of being held accountable for our actions- it can be terrifying. But because of Easter it doesn’t have to be anymore. Jesus’ victory over the grave gives us victory over the fear of death. When we die, we come into the presence of a loving Father. When we follow Him in life, we don’t have to fear not measuring up to His standard at the end. Our sin’s penalty has been canceled, and the reward for serving Him, however imperfectly, awaits us. Quoting Hosea, Paul writes “’Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (First Corinthians 15:55-57 NIV). How much should this change our lives? IN EVERY WAY. We no longer live in fear of death, but instead we embrace life and the opportunity to do good in Christ’s name. We love without fear, and serve with joy. We don’t worry about being good enough, we just give back in gratitude. The resurrection changes us, it makes us new. Our identity goes from fearful, outsider, orphan, overlooked, underestimated, and becomes sons, daughters, included, valued, adopted, chosen, and courageous. Are you living in this new identity? Do those words describe you? God tells us that these are real, that this is who I am. I’ll be honest and say that I don’t always live that way. Let’s celebrate Christ’s victory this Easter and remind ourselves that His victory has given us victory. Let’s celebrate His victory by living like victorious people- by being who we are now. He is Risen! God bless you all!

This month we’re getting to celebrate the greatest gift of all…New Life through Jesus Christ! Students will be engaging in meaningful and interactive lessons and demonstrations of what this gift means and how it can impact their lives. Furthermore, we will be starting a new curriculum series that will immerse Children’s Church into the Exodus of Israel and Sunday School Into what it looks like to Worship Our Great God and King.

This month students are not only learning what it means to know Christ personally, but also the importance of sharing that gift with others. Through invitations, children will be reaching out to their friends to invite them to BBCs Easter Services as well as praying for these friends throughout the weeks to come. Modeling prayer has been a focus for our teachers in order to equip the children with the tools they need to grow closer to God in their own relationships.

Impact kids is proud to impact our community with prayer for it’s leaders. Children’s Church will be selecting a city official whom they will pray for and encourage over the next several months. It’s important to teach our children how to pray and who to pray for, and then to actually get down to business. Praying for our community is something we should all be doing yet sometimes struggle with and forget about. We hope that with this exercise the children will learn to pray consistently.

Jonathon (or Jon if you prefer ☺) has been a child of God since he was in elementary school. Growing up a pastor’s kid he spent a lot of his childhood in church and at church events. He began serving in children’s ministry during high school and upon graduating high school became the Children’s Pastor. After 5 years in children’s ministry Jon became the Student Ministries Pastor and that is when he realized that his desire was to serve in ministry and to work with junior high and high school students and build disciples in the younger generation. God has used student ministries to break, shape and mold Jon’s heart and truly have a love and passion for students. He loves to be able to share his faith with youth and watch as they begin or continue their journey with Christ. He is also excited to work with the college students and young adults and begin training and equipping the next generation of leaders and disciple-makers! “I think it is so important for the body to realize that each of us play a vital role in the kingdom! It does not matter if we are crawling in the nursery, an awkward teenager or a seasoned Christ follower with decades of life experience, God has called each of us to work together to make disciples-in Brea, in Orange County and to the ends of the earth!” Jon has graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a BA in Political Science and is attending Azusa Pacific University in pursuit of his Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies. Jon is excited to be a part of the family at Brea Baptist Church and is eagerly anticipating how God is going to use every generation of Brea Baptist to further the Kingdom of God here on Earth!

Just a few updates on some of our missionaries: Dennis & Laura Leavell - Belgium * Meal & Outreach program is gaining traction * Looking for a more permanent location to meet * Laura & Brady‘s paperwork has not been approved for permanency. Please pray Dennis & Jan Horn - Bolivia * 26 souls saved and 3 Baptized * 23 youth went to camp, everyone made a decision to serve Christ more faithfully and 3 surrender to full time service

Marc & Jessica Buxton – Metro Manila We celebrated these amazing results in the last 12 months: * 55 professions of faith in Christ * 41 new baptisms * 60+ involved in discipleship relationship * opening new BBCA campus in Marikina * reaching 400 children per week through Kidz JAM A New Basketball Ministry An empty parking lot sits directly across the street from our church building. The site of a demolished building, it was dark, dirty, smelly, and generally in bad shape. But we had a vision for this space. We knew that we could use it for the gospel! Through partnerships with Compassion Builders International and others, we have been able to transform that dirty parking lot into a well lit, inviting, safe basketball court. Hoop Heaven is Global Surge's evangelistic basketball ministry. As part of our church anniversary celebration, we launched a new Hoop Heaven Sports center on the renovated parking lot. During the weekend basketball tournament we saw: 45 new first time visitors attend 28 professions of faith in Christ This is just the beginning! We are confident that our new sports center will help us reach many hundreds for Jesus Christ! Pray for our new Hoop Heaven ministry in Marikina!
