Arbor Day Poster Contest: Pre-K through grade 6 Recognition will be given to students for the most creative, educational, hand drawn entries in each grade. Poster artists are encouraged to visually portray a theme such as The role trees play in our Parks What meaning trees convey to the artist Entrants may also describe, in writing, one of these themes Posters should be at least 8.5” x 11” and no larger than 11” x 17”. Any media may be used in creating the poster. The ceremonial tree will be a species suitable for the location being selected. Submission Guidelines: School sponsored youth entries should have the student’s name, their teacher’s name, grade, and school’s name, teacher’s email contact information clearly printed on the back. Organization sponsored youth entries should have the youth’s name, age, adult sponsor name and email contact information and organization name clearly printed on the back. Individual youth entries should have entrants name, age, and adult sponsor name and email contact information clearly printed on the back. By submitting a poster the adult sponsor acknowledges permission for public display of the entrant’s poster or its image in Arbor Day publicity (there will be no attribution credit of displayed or publicized entries without a signed display release) Entries cannot be returned by mail. They may be picked at Cornell Cooperative Extension’s NEW LOCATION (below) May 4–8 when arrangements for pickup accompany entries. (phone 585-753 -2558) Winning entries will be notified via email. Entrants are invited to the dedication ceremony 11 am April 24, 2015 at the selected and announced City or County Park location. Deadline for entry is Friday, April 17, 2015. The Arts for Arbor Day Contest is conducted by the Greater Rochester Arbor Day Committee whose members include representatives from: Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County, City of Rochester, Monroe County Parks Department and Genesee Finger Lakes Nursery Landscape Association.
