Bear proof containers have been given an artistic twist with anti-graffiti vinyl covers. Children, students, local artists and photographers were chosen in a contest to have their art displayed on the containers at West Yellowstone in Montana, next to Yellowstone National Park. Anti-graffiti covers for thirty-seven recycling and rubbish cans and traffic controller boxes were coated with sealant to make graffiti removal easier. Wildlife photographer, Christine Haines, saw the distinctive street art and said: "During my trip to Yellowstone, I saw they wrapped their bear-proof containers, recycle containers, and traffic controller cabinets with anti-graffiti vinyl. I thought it was a great idea and photographed some of them while I was in town." The town has had historical problems with bears getting into bins and containers looking for food leading to a rise in Grizzly bears in the town. In the 80s, a scheme was started in the town where containers had to be bear proof, which eventually reduced the number of bears roaming the streets at a risk to the community.
