Spooky Disco There were some fabulous outfits on display at our Spooky Disco this week. The winners at the infant disco were Noah Allen and Alyssia Forster. Junior disco winners were Grace Jameson and Joshua Richardson. The children all had a great time, their behaviour was excellent and we raised a brilliant £280 in profit for school funds, which will be spent on the children. A huge thank you to everyone for collecting their child on time at the end of the late disco, it was much appreciated! Football Round Up Another brilliant demonstration of teamwork led to 2 more victories for our football team on Wednesday night. Ashley Primary 4 - 2 Mortimer Primary Ashley Primary 11 (eleven!) - 3 Westoe Crown Great effort boys! Keep it up! Achievements If your child has achieved something special outside of school, then why not let us know about it? Either note down the achievement and send it into school, marked for the attention of Mrs Todd, or email me directly at
[email protected] We look forward to hearing from you!

Scholastic Book Fair Thanks to everyone who visited our Scholastic Book
Fair in October. We raised a fantastic £720 in commission for the school and this is currently being spent on books for each classroom.
Remembering As you will be aware, it is the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War this year. We have done several things to show that we remember those who have given their lives in conflict. On Thursday, Councillor Dick, from West Park, arranged for ex and current servicemen to visit the school and talk to Year 6 children about the tradition of the Remembrance service. The children even heard a bugler play The Last Post. Taking our inspiration from the poppies at the Tower of London, every child in school has made a poppy, which will be displayed in the hall. Our aim is to create a river of poppies in time for Tuesday 11th November, when we will be observing the 2 minutes silence as we do each year. Some of our Year 6 children will attend the service at the West Park and will lay a wreath at the cenotaph, during the service.
CHILDREN IN NEED EVENT Our Year 6 children are organising various events for the children to take part in, on Friday 14th November, to support the annual CHILDREN IN NEED event. Each class has a set time slot to go into the hall and join in all of the activities. A donation of £1 per pupil is suggested, for this they can participate in all of the events and come to school in non uniform or fancy dress. We would love donations of cakes for our cake stall! If parents/grandparents/carers are free to join in the fun during your child’s time in the hall, then we’d love to see you. Times are as follows: 9.30 – 10.00 am – Mrs Hagan & Mrs Hall 10.00 – 10.30 am – Mrs Morton & Miss Golightly 10.30 – 11.00 am – Mrs Jewitt & Mrs Hotchkiss 11.00 – 11.30 am – Nursery am 1.30 – 2.00 pm – Miss Stratford & Miss Evans 2.00 – 2.30 pm – Miss Douglas & Mr Bell 2.30 – 3.00 pm – Miss Locklan & Mrs McVay 3.00 – 3.20 pm – Nursery pm
