Aspire | Commit | Succeed 20/10/17 Dear Parent/Carer, I am writing to inform you of an exciting project that your son/daughter has been taking part in this term. We are delighted to be taking part in one of the world’s largest youth Drama festival, Shakespeare Schools Festival 2017. Every year thousands of young people across the UK are given the unique opportunity to perform in a professional theatre. We are pleased to inform you that your child will be performing in our production of “The Tempest” taking place on Monday 6th November 2017 at The Beck Theatre, Hayes. As part of the festival journey, your child will be required to take part in rehearsals at school; the dates and times your child is required to attend is detailed below and it is vital that they attend all of the rehearsals and practice their lines at home. On the performance day, our cast will spend the day at the theatre for a technical and dress rehearsal, fully supported by a professional theatre director, and sound and lighting technicians. In the evening, your child with their cast mates will join students from other local schools as each perform their own abridged Shakespeare play in front of friends, family and the local community! Dates for your diary Monday 30th October- Rehearsal 2.30pm- 4.30pm at ER site Tuesday 31st October- Rehearsal 3.15pm- 5.00pm at ER site Wednesday 1st November – Rehearsal 3.15pm-4.30pm at ER site Thursday 2nd November – Rehearsal 3.15pm- 4.30pm ER site Monday 6th November Students will be spending the day at the theatre as they need to prepare for their evening performance. Theatres sometimes add online booking fees to tickets- check in advance, and to avoid this, book tickets in person at the theatre. The performance will start at 7.00pm prompt therefore we recommend family and friends arrive by 6.45pm at the latest. The evening is due to finish by 10.00pm, please note end times are always approximate as some shows will be shorter than others. There will be 2 other schools performing on the same night and students are required to stay until the very end as they receive feedback from the festival leaders. Students are required to be collected from Beck Theatre, where they will be dismissed at approximately 10.00pm. If you have made arrangements for your son/daughter to car share going home then this must be specified on the permission slip. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your help and support and we look forward to seeing you at the Beck Theatre on Monday 6th November 2017.
Attached is a key form that needs to be completed fully and returned along with the permission slip to either Ms Jaffrey or Ms Blackey by Monday 30th October and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.
