AFP San Diego Named Prestigious 10 Star Chapter The Association of Fundraising Professionals San Diego Chapter has been named a 2017 Ten Star Chapter based on performance and membership size. Every year, AFPI honors chapters for achieving goals that align with key objectives in its long-range strategic plan. Our chapter has grown to more than 375 members. “Congratulation to the San Diego chapter, which is playing a major role in promoting ethical and effective fundraising and educating the public about the importance of philanthropy and wise giving,” said Jason Lee, Interim president and CEO of AFP. Criteria for the award are determined by AFP International Headquarters, which annually establishes goals based on performance, membership, and outcomes in achieving respective chapters’ strategic goals. These include philanthropic endeavors, quality education, inclusion, student outreach, advocacy and ethics.

Profile: Introducing Our Chapter President Andréa Muir, CFRE, our new Chapter President, is a third generation San Diegan with a vested interest in improving our community through philanthropy. With a 20-year career in development, she has served as a volunteer leader on the Board of Directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals – San Diego Chapter (AFP-San Diego) for 6 years. These are her primary goals for this year: 1. Education - Improve education opportunities and meet the diverse needs of our membership. 2. National Philanthropy Day - Build upon our successful track record with National Philanthropy Day (NPD), held each November, which is one of the largest attended events of its kind among AFP chapters throughout the U.S. 3. Membership - Engage more members in AFP-San Diego. Her demonstrated civic mindedness and strong background in fundraising, non-profit administration, and board development make her a great asset as AFP-San Diego President.
