Head Coach Steve Johnson Coach Johnson is entering his Sixth season at the helm for the Tigers. In 2012, he led the Tigers to the postseason and a 2nd place finish in the MIAA tournament. Prior to Fort Hays State, Johnson was the head coach at Butler Community College. In 2005, 2007, and 2010 Johnson was named Jayhawk West Conference Coach of the year. In 2006, he was named the Central District Coach of the year by the ACBA, after leading Butler to their 1st appearance in the JUCO World Series since 1994. Johnson played at Barton County and at the University of AlabamaBirmingham before spending five years in the St. Louis Cardinals organization as a minor league pitcher.
Asst. Coach Kyle Stacken Coach Stacken is in his fifth season as an assistant coach for FHSU. Kyle joins the Tiger coaching staff after completing his four year career at FHSU. The Concordia, Kan. native was a three time All-MIAA selection. Stacken will work primarily with hitters and position players.
Asst. Coach Andy Lewton Coach Lewton is in his fourth season as an assistant coach for FHSU. Andy joins the Tiger staff after completing his pitching career at FHSU. Lewton joined the Tiger pitching staff after transferring from Barton Community College. Andy will work primarily with pitchers.
Asst. Coach Jerry Valdez Coach Valdez is in his first season as an assistant coach for FHSU. Valdez joins the Tiger staff after serving as the President of Baseball Operations for the Dallas Patriots Baseball Academy. Valdez was a first team All-American during his time at FHSU
before a six year stint in professional baseball as a 25th round pick of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Asst. Coach Clayton Garland Coach Garland is in his first year as an assistant coach for FHSU. Garland joins the coaching staff after completing his playing career as a Tiger. The Barton Community College transfer earned multiple All-MIAA and All Central Region honors. Clayton will work primarily with outfielders.

Equipment Metal spikes CANNOT be worn in the training facility. Turf shoes, Tennis Shoes, or Molded spikes may be worn.
CAMP INSTRUCTION

The Fort Hays State High School Showcase Camp will be a one day event allowing for athletes to showcase their skills to potential college coaches, while learning and improving in all aspects of the game.
Camp will be instructed at the Schmidt-Bickle Indoor Training Facility located next to Lewis Field on the Fort Hays State University campus.
The Fort Hays State Baseball Camp teaches young athletes different aspects and phases to become a complete baseball player. Looking at fielding, hitting, bunting, base running, throwing, and catching, the staff will cover all areas in order to make each player a better team and individual player.
PRICING Camp fees will be $75 for anyone ages 14-18.

The indoor training facility will allow for an improved camp experience for all participants. The fully turfed facility will allow for full scale defensive instruction and multiple batting stations as well as full-length long toss and pitching work.
Medical Waiver Release And Medical Authorization I hereby authorize the staff of the 2016 FHSU Baseball Camp to act according to their best judgment in any emergency requiring medical attention and I hereby waive and release the camp from any and all liability for any injuries or illnesses incurred while at camp. I understand that violation of camp rules may result in dismissal from camp with all tuition forfeited. My signature also indicates that medical permission has been secured to practice and I have insurance to cover any injuries or illness incurred during camp.
