Atlanta Colt Youth Association 2013 Cheerleading Season 2013 ACYA Cheerleading Season is upon us!! ACYA is committed to offering quality recreational sport programs where all participants have the opportunity to have fun while learning and participating in sports. Outlined below is some important information and dates regarding our Cheer program. To Travel or Not to Travel? Our Cheerleading Program is broken into two groups: Inter-‐league and travel. They both receive age appropriate training and are offered the same camps, team buildings, and practices. The younger grades do not meet as often or for as long for practice, but both groups get extra training in age appropriate tumbling, stunting, and dance movement. During the first week of squad practice, the Dunwoody High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleaders will help each group in break out sessions. Here is the comparison: rd th ·∙Travel Colt Cheerleaders – 3 through 7 Grade: These Cheerleaders will cheer at home and away at the Colt Football games. The away games will be played at one of the parks within the North West Georgia Youth Football League (NWGYFL). More information is available at www.nwgyfl.org The majority of football games are held on Saturday afternoons throughout the season. The schedule is still in development by the NWGYFL. Cheerleaders will go to a select number of playoff games, which may occur on any day of the week. The game and playoff schedule will be given to cheerleaders once it is finalized. ACYA will have four Colt cheer squads – rd th th th th 3 grade, 4 grade, 5 grade, and a combined squad for 6 /7 grades. This mirrors the Colt football teams. th ·∙Inter-‐League Football – Pee Wee through 7 Grade: These Sideline Cheerleaders will cheer at the ACYA fields only at Murphey Candler Park. There are NO travel games in this league. On occasion, cheerleaders may be asked to cheer at additional games and those would replace a practice for the week. Cheerleaders will go to a select number of playoff games, which may occur on any day of the week. ACYA will have cheer squads for every grade if registration numbers are adequate. So it’s really up to YOU whether or not you and your family want to travel to the away games. Now, if you and your cheerleader choose to travel and want to cheer for a Colt team, then your child will have to try out for a spot on the Colt squad. If your child does not make a Colt Squad, then we highly encourage your family to stay at the park, not travel and cheer for Inter-‐league. Either choice is a win win for your child!! Refunds If you daughter does not make a Colt squad and does not wish to cheer in the Intra-‐League or if there are not enough girls in her age group to form a squad in the Intra-‐League, you will be issued a full refund. Registration Girls must be registered for ACYA Cheerleading prior to participating in conditioning or tryouts. th Anyone who is not registered by Friday, May 10 will not be allowed to participate. In park registration will be th accepted on May 10 but you are encouraged to register online at www.atlantacolts.com. Participants will be accepted until the registration deadline of May 10, 2013.
