ATTENTION all BASEBALL PLAYERS Are you aware of the NEW BASEBALL BAT CHANGES for 2018? NEW USA BASEBALL BAT PROGRAM (USABat)
On January 1st, 2018 USA Baseball will be implementing a NEW RULE CHANGE to the bats. If you are 14 years old or younger and play Little League, Babe Ruth & Cal Ripken, PONY, Dixie or AABC, you will need to use a bat marked with a NEW USABat stamp. In order to maintain the integrity of youth baseball, the USA Bat Standard will create wood-‐like performance in youth bats while allowing younger players to use lightweight bats that could not be achieved with wood bats. USSSA will not be adopting the USA Baseball Bat Standards. However, USSSA Baseball will allow the use of a bat that carries the NEW USA BASEBALL BAT STAMP (as long as barrel diameter, drop weight, material specifications, etc. match the specific divisional requirements). AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) will not adopt the USA Baseball Standards at this time, but will revisit the change this Fall. USABat will not have a drop weight limit. USA Baseball will allow the use of up to 2 5/8-‐inch big barrel bats for all age levels. Tee ball bats must feature the USA Bat Stamp and accompanying text that reads, “Only for use with approved tee balls”. Ø USA Baseball certified bats cannot be sold before Sept. 1st, 2017 and are not mandatory for use until January 1st, 2018. Wilson’s DeMarini and Louisville brands will be available October 1st, 2017 Ø Can you use USA Baseball stamped bats before Jan. 1st, 2018? YES
