WORK DAY The men of the church are invited to participate in two 'Work Day' activities on Saturday 30 August, as the first steps in upgrading the men’s and women’s restrooms in the Fellowship Hall. The first effort, from 9 AM to not later than 12 PM (expect to finish sooner) is to remove the partitions, toilets, and floor covering in both restrooms. Four to six volunteers will be sufficient. Please bring work gloves; and if you have them also Phillips and flat tip screwdrivers of various sizes; Crescent or combination/open-end wrenches of various sizes; and floor scrapers, utility/demolition bars, and ChipBuddies. The second effort, from 1 PM to not later than 4 PM (expect to finish sooner) is to prepare and re-paint the walls in both restrooms. Again, four to six volunteers will be sufficient. Please bring work gloves and eye protection. Individuals are welcome (and encouraged) to volunteer for both efforts, but are not required to do so. Volunteers are asked to notify Mike Black, 913-682-5833, no later than the evening of Wednesday 27 August (sooner is better please) of willingness to support which effort(s) and what tools can be provided.
“…to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:12-13 6
Prayer Requests from the Board of Elders 1. Pray for the Lord’s wisdom on future expansion. The elders and the whole church needs wisdom as we discuss options, choose the wisest one, and then vote on that as a whole church. 2. Pray for the beginning of our regular ministries as they kick off in September. AWANA, Tyrannus School of Theology, Discipleship Program for the Development of Spiritual Leaders, and Children’s Church will all begin shortly. 3. Pray for a smooth transition into ministry of Jason and Janice Gilleland. Pray also that they could locate housing and part-time employment. 4. Pray for Prayer in our body. Specifically our prayer meeting that it would be a source of much corporate prayer and a catalyst for private prayer.
