The Saint Patrick School Parent Bulletin – From the Desk of the Principal August 26, 2016 Vol. 1 Issue 1 Dear St. Patrick families, Welcome back! It was great to see everyone at our Meet the Teacher Night. Our opening of the school year went very well. It is always a joy to see all the smiling faces as the students walk into school again. I would like to extend a special welcome to all of our students who are new to St. Patrick this year and to all of our new kindergarten students. Something that you will notice is that there will be an increase in school testing this year. We will begin testing the whole school very shortly with the STAR test battery. This is a new test component that the Diocese is employing this year. Kindergarten will be tested in early literacy and grades 1 through eight will be tested in reading and math. Our testing will begin August 30th and conclude on Sept. 15th. Last year I was asked to look into our evening car dismissal. I will be monitoring how that goes but if a change is deemed necessary, it will not go into effect until after Labor Day. Mrs. Gretsinger, our yearbook advisor, is looking for someone to shadow her this school year and then take over the position of yearbook advisor. Mrs. Gretsinger has done a fantastic job in producing quality yearbooks every year and hopefully someone
will volunteer to keep up this tradition. You may contact Mrs. Atkinson or Mrs. Gretsinger at 330-678-4067 or at
[email protected]. We are in the process of updating the school website. As of now the lunch menu has been added and if you look at the school calendar it is current through the end of the year. I would suggest you review it from time to time, as new events will be added as needed. The Acme Market Community Cashback campaign has begun. Register receipts from Aug. 11, 2016, through Dec. 31, 2016 will be accepted. We receive 5% cash back from the receipts turned in. Invite your family and friends, in addition to our own families to send your Acme register receipts to the school office. If you are ordering milk for this school year it is $40. Please pay this as soon as possible. Make checks payable to St. Patrick School. A number of important papers will be coming home this week that will need to be fill out and returned back to school. Please do this as soon as possible. As we complete our first week, I am very pleased to say everything went very smoothly and we are off to a great start for this new school year. Have a great weekend! The warm weather is back so let’s make the best of it any way we can. And, as always …. GO CAVS, GO INDIANS, GO BROWNS, and most important ….. GO PANTHERS!
