Automated Fuel Delivery (AFD)

AFD was implemented at CHS in 2009. The way the program works is quite simple. First, your tanks are profiled; by profiling we can get an accurate capacity and location of your tanks. The next step is to install the monitors and a receiver. The monitor measures the air space in a tank and sends the information to the receiver through a wireless transmission, much the way a garage door opener works. The receiver is hooked into your phone line and once a day calls an 800 number in the routing office. If a land line is not available, a cell tower monitor may be installed; the only negative with a cell monitor, is that it can’t be used on a gasoline tank. Once tanks reach a predetermined level, a truck is automatically dispatched to your location before you run out of fuel. With AFD, you ALWAYS have fuel in your tank when you need it. The best part of the program is the billing. Unless you have a contract, the price you pay is based on the monthly average at the Mitchell pipeline and you only pay for the gallons used during the billing cycle. If at any time you feel the market is heading in an upward direction, you can buy out the fuel in your tank at that time. If the market is steady to lower, you may wish to take advantage of the monthly average, thus eliminating the guess work of picking the bottom side. Another amazing concept is the billing terms, you have a minimum of 30 to a maximum of 60 days to pay for the fuel, and once again you only pay for the gallons used during the billing cycle.

Example: Starting inventory the 16th of the month: 6050 gallons Ending inventory the 15th of the month: 4200 gallons = 1850 gallons used during the billing cycle So, you would be billed for only the 1850 gallons used during the billing cycle, which will be due the 20th of the following month.

Pricing: Start of the billing cycle the price is at $2.40 and moves up and down, and settles at $2.80 at the end of the billing cycle. You would be billed the average for the month, which in this example would be $2.60 per gallon used. OR The price at the beginning of the billing cycle is at $2.40 and moves nothing but lower, and at the end of the billing cycle it settles at $2.00, which in this example you would be billed $2.20 per gallon used.

To have the AFD program implemented at your location costs you nothing.
