Autumn Term 1 9-9-16

This half term we are focusing on the Christian value of thankfulness. Dear Parents and Carers, Welcome to a brand new year at St James. We are all looking forward to the fun and learning ahead of us and to working in partnership with you and your children. All staff will be working very hard over the next week or two to help your children settle quickly into their new classes. We are delighted to welcome 20 new children into our Reception class and hope that they will very soon feel like part of the St James family. If you do have any worries at the start of this new term, please contact your child’s class teacher. Teachers are usually available for a few minutes at the end of the school day, but if you need more time than this, you are very welcome to make an appointment through the school office. As well as our new pupils, we are welcoming the following new members of staff: Miss Emily Duncumb will be teaching Reception, Miss Jess Irvine will be teaching Year 1 and Mrs Sally Drew will be teaching Year 5 for the second half of the week. Mrs Linda Blunt will be joining the staff in the school office. We hope they will all be very happy with us. Best wishes to you all, Kathy Palmizi (Head of School)
PTFA The Parents and Friends Association are a friendly group of parents and carers who organise different events to raise money for the school. They are currently fundraising for new play equipment to replace our much-loved Pirate Ship. Last year’s fundraising events included: a Sponsored Spell; Christmas Cards; Christmas Festive Fun Evening; Quiz, Curry & Auction Night; Florin Fayre and Summer Fayre. The group raises a huge amount of money for us which supports the children in many different ways e.g. paying for transport for theatre trips and purchasing 10 ipads. If you are interested in finding out more, please come along to the AGM on Monday September 12th at 7pm. We would love to see you there!
