Cross Country On Friday 13th November, Uplands took 5 teams to the annual Cross Country event at Southill Park. On a windy and rainy day (with some outbreaks of sunshine!), 3 boys teams and 2 girls teams conquered the 900m course with such effort and determination. For the first time in many years, we took 30 children to the event which is a huge testament to the hard work of the children and enthusiasm they showed. To have so many children keen to attend was fantastic and myself, Miss Savage and Mr Archer were very impressed with the standard. We even took some Year 3 children, which is a real triumph as the tournament is traditionally for children in Years 4 to 6. For a one form-entry school to take more teams than a lot of the two and three formentry schools in Bracknell is a huge achievement and the school are very proud of all our children. Well done Uplands! Mr Sherwood
YEAR 4 ASSEMBLY Year 4’s Egyptian class assembly was an extravaganza! Based on the X-Factor, the ‘Pharaoh Factor’ featured celebrity judges (such as Cleopatra and Tutankhamun), amazing presenters and incredible acts with singing, dancing and jokes! It was an impressive performance with clear delivery and the children had a great time! Well done to Miss Willis, Mrs Rogers and all of Year 4 for an assembly that clearly shows the children’s enjoyment of their topic.
Christmas Panto The excitement is escalating and the whispers of “Oh no you won’t!” and “Oh yes you will!” have started already. Thank you all for being so prompt with your signed permission slips and deposits we really do appreciate it. The balances are due in by, at the latest, Friday 27th November and we thank you in advance for your timely payments, which will enable us to finalise arrangements. On the day, we would ask that you send your child to school with a packed lunch as we are leaving before lunch and will therefore need to eat early. If you require a school packed lunch, please ask for a lunch envelope from the school office. A school packed lunch will consist of: a ham, cheese or tuna sandwich; carrot and cucumber fingers; and a piece of fruit. All orders for packed lunch must be placed by Tuesday 1st December so that the kitchen manager may order supplies. Finally, we are still waiting for a few permission slips and would really appreciate receipt of these by Monday. Unfortunately, if we do not receive the permission slip, your child will not be allowed to attend and would have to remain in school.

REQUEST FOR COSTUMES POLITE NOTICE
We do understand that sometimes traffic or unforeseen circumstances can lead to parents being late to collect their children at the end of the school day. We do ask that, under normal circumstances, you make every effort to arrive on time to collect your child. Staff often have meetings to attend. Thank you for your co-operation.
We are in desperate need of flamenco style dresses/skirts/tops for our Key Stage 1 performance. If anyone has anything suitable for ages 4 to 7, we would be most grateful if we could borrow them. We would need them as soon as possible as we will be rehearsing over the next few weeks. Thank you in advance for your kind assistance.
