A Poem From His Princess
Sometimes I just sit quietly reflecting for a while, Imagine your voice, your face, your warm and loving smile. For it’s so lovely to recall the happy times we had, When you played such a special role For mommy and me as my Dad. And at this very special time, I only wish you knew, That I’d give all the world today for one more hour with you. But I still have my memories and since we’ve been apart, It comforts me so much to know That you’re right here in my heart.
I Love You Daddy — Kennedy

Mr. Telly Knight, the man with the infectious smile and the son of Mamie Doris and Phillip Douglas Ross, was born on April 1, 1978. On August 12, 2017, he was called home to be with his Heavenly Father.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to you remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. ~ John 14: 26-27 My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. ~ 2 Corinthians 12: 9
After graduating from Hoke County High School in Raeford, NC in 1996, Telly went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from East Carolina University. He started his career with BB&T where he flourished as an associate. With his continued service and dedication to BB&T, he met, made, and left a lifelong impression on many friends that will never be forgotten. In addition to his career at BB&T, he taught classes at Johnston Community College. He became a volunteer mentor at Y.O.U.T.H. of Wilson, NC, where he became a mentor to a young man named Jahki by giving advice, guidance, assistance and being a positive role model. From this relationship, he built an everlasting friendship.
There are not enough words or time to describe Telly. To sum it up, his life told the story. He was a Wonderful and Devoted father to his daughter, Kennedy, whom he spoke of with glee in his eyes. He leaves her with joyous and countless memories and the ability to live a blessed and fulfilling life because of the way he lived his life. Telly leaves to cherish his loving memory: his daughter, Kennedy Nyla Knight of Clayton, NC; his mother, Mamie Doris McRae and his father, Phillip Douglas Ross (Gloria) both of Raeford, NC; three sisters, Cassandra Knight, Valerie Knight McGougan (Gary) both of Raeford, NC and Ashley Covington of Raleigh, NC; four brothers, Jackson Knight (Irecia) of Raeford, NC, Brian Knight of Laurel, MD, Devon Ross of Raeford, NC and Roderick Ross (Amara) of Greensboro, NC; six nieces, Alisha, Journi, Tennas, Tamara, Jiyah and Yadah; three nephews, Jevic, Decva and Hiram; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whom he loved dearly.
