Backgrounder Global Connections for Women Foundation Inaugural 2015 Working Moms Expo in Atlanta, GA The  Global  Connec-ons  for  Women  Founda-on  (GC4W),  the  interna-onal  non-­‐profit  organiza-on  dedicated  to   connec-ng,  educa-ng  and  empowering  women  and  young  girls  around  the  globe,  plans  its  inaugural  Working  Moms  Expo  on   Saturday,  October  3,  2015,  in  Atlanta,  GA.   In  today’s  highly-­‐demanding  world,  women  now  more  than  ever  are  the  primary  breadwinners,  up  by  40%  since  1970.   According  to  Pew  research  Center,  the  educa-onal  level  among  mothers  is  higher  than  ever  before.  Yet,  working  mothers  are   oXen  unrecognized  in  the  media  and  may  find  it  difficult  to  connect  with  people  who  support  them.  The  Working  Moms  Expo  is   an  opportunity  for  working  mothers  as  well  as  women  in  business  to  listen  to  experiences,  recognize  accomplishments,  learn   valuable  business  skills,  and  create  powerful  bonds.     On  October  3rd,  working  mothers,  leaders,  local  businesses,  and  celebri-es  will  gather  to  share  their  inspiring  stories.  The   2015  Working  Moms  Expo  will  open  with  an  announcement  of  the  winners  of  the  Ul#mate  Super  Mom  Compe##on,  an   interna-onal  contest  designed  to  honor  remarkable  women  who  balance  their  family  lives  with  strengthening  their  communi-es.     The  Expo  will  also  showcase  women-­‐business-­‐owners  in  its  Entrepreneur  Zone,  a  dedicated  exhibit  space  where  leading  women   vendors  will  showcase  their  businesses.  During  the  day,  a\endees  can  hone  their  business  skills  by  going  to  workshops  such  as   “Leadership  &  Entrepreneurship  Workshop”  or  the  “Business,  Family  and  Health  Balance  Workshop,”  as  well  as  listen  to  a  roster   of  impressive  speakers  that  includes  award-­‐winning  author  and  former  Miss  USA,  Terri  Bri\.   As  a  key  pillar  in  the  GC4W  goal  of  impac-ng  the  lives  of  100,000  women  and  young  girls,  the  Working  Moms  Expo   promises  an  opportunity  to  acquire  the  cri-cal  combina-on  of  both  valuable  knowledge  as  well  as  an  invaluable  new  network  of   support  that  is  proving  to  be  so  essen-al  to  success  in  today’s  society.   Partners  and  Sponsors     Thus  far,  the  event  has  a\racted  partners  such  as  Spelman  College,  Subway  Restaurants  and  most  recently  United  Na-ons   Women  as  they  aim  to  reach  one  billion  men  with  their  “HeforShe”  campaign,  which  has  been  tabbed  as  the  headline  for  the   Expo’s  concluding  event,  the  “HeforShe”  Networking  Recep-on.
