Youth Club

Swap and Share (Swash)

Children (8-16) from Baldernock are welcome to drop in to the youth club which meets on a Monday in the Church Hall on Glenorchard Road. Club times are 7:00—8:30 pm, the cost is £1.00.

Monday 20th September 7:00 – 8:30

Our first swash was held at Baldernock Primary School on the 21st August. It was a great success, with over 40 people attending, and 171 kg being swapped and diverted from landfill! Jo Swinson attended and it was a good opportunity to catch up with friends over a cup of Coach House tea and biscuits.

The Youth Club, in partnership with the Cut the Carbon Group, has organised for Emily Reid and her fantastic Eco Drama Bus to visit us and do a fun workshop called Eco Gadgets with the children. Come and check out the bus and have some hands on fun making your Eco Gadgets. Runs on recycled chippie oil! Upcoming activities Loads of fun things to do: games, pool, football table, table tennis, darts, cookery and crafts. We are also planning a trip to the Science Centre. There is an annual residential. Turn Mondays into the best night of the week!

Reduce Reuse Recycle

Coffee Morning 3. Pedestrian Safety and Footpaths The Acting Chair noted that since the last meeting a lot of work has been completed by EDC Roads in relation to repairing sections of carriageway and potholes especially along Craigmaddie Road. Under this item community members raised a number of issues for Council to consider, including:  Enforcement of 30mph speed limits along Balmore Road  A request for parking restrictions outside Balmore Church Hall  Introduction of signage on rural roads leading to the Primary School to warn of cyclists  Enforcement of speed limits along Balmore Road and the problem of accidents along this stretch of road.

4. Planning Update Since the last meeting in April there have been two new planning applications:  Baldernock Lodge - application for a garden hut – no objections from neighbouring properties.  Croft Road, Balmore - extension to existing property no objections from neighbouring properties. In addition there has been a request to make a presentation to the Community in respect of the restoration works planned at Summerston Farm. This request from Luddon Construction will be accommodated at the next meeting in September.
