Bargello for Beginners Mon, Jan 25, 2016 at 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Mon, Feb 8, 2016 at 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Mon, Feb 22, 2016 at 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Our first meeting will be spent getting our fabrics organized and cut. The first class is just 3 hours long from 5:00-8:00 Monday evening. The remaining two classes are all day from 10:00-4:00. At that time, we will slice our Bargello strips and position them on our design walls for sewing later. My sampler is sewn with a Bali Pop. The solid batik gives the swirls lots of definition. Small prints work very nicely too. Try to stay away from large prints or heavily patterned fabrics with multi colors. When cut small, big prints loose the defined edge needed to create the Bargello swirling illusion. Bargello quilt class #1, you will need: 1 Layer Cake (40 precut 10” square pack) o OR 1 Jelly roll or Bali Pop (40 precut 2 ½” strips) o OR 40 strips 2 ½” wide from your stash If using a Layer Cake: Rotary cutter **We have mats and rulers Sewing machine in working order, or use a classroom machine. Thread for construction I Used to be a Layer Cake pattern, they are in stock Basic sewing supplies – thread snips, pins, etc. Classes #2 and #3: Please bring a design wall to pin the strips in order Highly suggest purchasing the numbered pins 6” x 24” ruler you like best Seam ripper
