Sew Many Quilts & Bernina Center Class Schedule May through June 2011 Back to Basics - Hand Quilting May 13 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm Teacher: Susie Berke Cost: $40 There is absolutely nothing as gratifying and relaxing as hand quilting. Susie will teach you about the “tools of the trade” from needles and threads to thimbles. Relax as you learn the art of hand quilting from an expert who will guide you through the steps and help you perfect your hand quilting stitch. Beginning Machine Quilting Sunday, May 15 12 noon – 4:00 pm Teacher: Kathe Sabine $40 You will learn everything from machine set-up to how to layer and baste your quilt and the supplies that will make a difference in your machine quilting experience. This is a hands-on class that will show you how to do freemotion quilting as well as stitch-in-the-ditch. You’ll be able to go home, practice, and transfer what you have learned to that quilt that’s waiting for you. Table Runner of the Month – Summer Cabin May 23 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Teacher: Linda Engebretson $15.00 plus cost of kit which includes the pattern and all fabric except batting We all love making projects that are easy to make, can quilt ourselves, fun to give away and affordable! You will make a different table runner each month. At the end of the year you could have 12 gifts ready for the holidays or you could treat yourself to a gift for each season! Getting together and sharing our creativity is half the fun!

Bag Ladies May 21 10:00 am – 4:00 pm Teachers: Maralee Ross & Linda Engebretson Cost: $20 plus pattern and fabric This month’s purse (Margo Bag) is a classic bag with lots of inside pockets. You can dress it up or down by the fabrics you choose.

Piped Binding June 4 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm Teacher: Phyllis Van Etten Cost: $50 (includes Grand Finale DVD, and fabric kit) Learn how to put on a piped binding the Ricky Tims way. It’s all done on the machine with absolutely no hand stitching and great mitered corners. Give your quilt a little extra pizazz! Artista Party Thursday, June 9 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Cost: Free Instructor: Brenda Sheppard Join the party as we make an embroidered (by machine) project. You will go home with a finished project and have a great time making it. If you have never experience machine embroidery, this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. We will supply everything at no cost to you! If you miss one, you can come another time as there will be a party every month. Blocks of the Month and Groups that Meet Monthly Hollyberries Club 2nd Wednesday of the month 10:00 am $ 19 This group meets monthly to create this delightful Starlight, Starbright quilt.

Last Saturday Club (commonly known as the $5.00 quilt) Last Saturday of the month 9:00 am $5.00 Pay $25.00 for your first quilt block materials. Come back the last Saturday of each month with your finished block and we will give you the materials for your next block. If there ever is a time when you don’t come in with your completed block, you will be charged $5.00 the next time. Machine Embroidery Club Meets the 3rd Friday of each month 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Teacher: Phyllis Van Etten $15.00 plus kit/ design cost if used If you have an embroidery machine (any manufacturer), but still are a little hesitant to use it, or you just enjoy getting together with “the girls” to embroider, this is the group for you. We learn new techniques and take home a completed project each month. You will need to bring your own threads, embroidery machine &/or module, hoops, whatever means you need to transfer the design to your machine, & basic sewing supplies.

Software Society 2nd Saturday of the month 10:00 am – 1:00 pm Teacher: Brenda Sheppard $20.00 If you have Bernina Editor Plus V6 or Designer Plus Software V6, you will probably want to join our Bernina Software Club. We will all learn together while having a great time. If you are thinking about whether you might want to purchase the software we can “buddy” you up with another member so you can try it out. Bring your software and laptop to class. Tonga Rhapsody Pieced Batik Block of the Month 1st Wednesday of the month 5:30 pm $23.00 per month This queen size (92” x 106”) features 12 blocks in a unique setting designed to showcase the batik fabrics. These fabrics are vibrant and breathtaking. The photo does not do it justice. If you have never made a batik quilt, you are in for a great surprise.

On-Going Groups and Clubs Most can be joined at any time Ladies Night Out 1st & 3rd Fridays of the Month 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm $18.00 or $15 if you pre-pay one week in advance Bring your own project to work on. We have a catered dinner. It’s a great time of fellowship, sharing, and great food.

Lovers of Wool Sit ‘n Stitch Meets each 2nd Sunday of the Month 12:00 noon - 3:00 pm Coordinator: Pam Sorenson Work on your own project and learn from each other. You will be amazed at the creativity each of you have! This will be an informal, interactive group meeting. The idea is to enjoy each other and learn more about wool projects, techniques, and supplies. Be prepared to experience the passion so many of us have for wool.

Quilting Divas Each Tuesday of the month 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm $3.00 This group of ladies meets to work on their various quilt projects. It's a fun, relaxing time for everyone. Start at 1:00 pm and sew until about 8:00 pm. Sit ‘n Stitch Hand Embroidery Group 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month 10:00 am to 12 noon Teacher: Linda Engebretson $ Free Work on your own embroidery projects, brush up on techniques, get expert advice from our hand embroidery expert, Linda. Stitch, chat, share, and enjoy!

Class Registration and Cancellation Policy Pre-registration is required. Class must be paid for at the time of registration. Classes may be cancelled, and refunds given, if minimum student requirements are not met. We will not cancel a class less than 5 days in advance. No refund will be issued for student cancellation with less than 7 days’ notice. Students under the age of 18 will not be enrolled in class unless specified. Sewing machine must be in good working order and you must be able to operate it. If you are enrolled in a day-long class, we recommend bringing a sack lunch. A one-time 15% discount will be given on class supplies.
