Beginning Needleturn Applique The focus of this six week classes is to develop and master your hand applique skills. During the first class we will be discussing basic applique supplies, fabric, color choices, and the applique stitch. Since we will be discussing applique supplies during the first class, I haven't compiled an class supply list. I will have many different needles, pins, marking tools, etc for you to try and decide which ones works best for you. Beginning Paper Piecing This class is for anyone who wants to learn how to piece blocks using a paper foundation. We will use the Carrefour pattern to construct blocks to make a pretty table runner. Beginning Quilting This class is for anyone who wants to learn how to quilt. We will start at the very beginning and learn how to choose fabrics, use a rotary cutter, and piece simple blocks. We will continue learning how to piece small quilts, layer the quilt sandwich, quilt by hand or machine, and finish with the binding and label. Binding 101 Learn how to use double fold binding to finish your quilt edge. Peggy will show you how to cut and join binding strips, how to square your quilt top, attach the binding strips to your quilt and how to hand stitch the binding in place. Exploring Art Quilt The Focus of this class will be to learn basic design elements and use them to incorporate various art quilting techniques into eight different mini quilts. The class will meet once a month for eight months, meaning one mini quilt per class!! We will be exploring the elements and principles of design, getting inspiration, fabric collage, innovative piecing, painting and printing on fabric, thread work, embellishing and finishing techniques. These techniques can be used to add interest and excitement to any quilt and provide a challenge for even the most seasoned quilter while staying appropriate for the inquisitive beginner..

Second Saturday Club The Second Saturday Club will feature a Block of the Month quilt, Friends and Family, by Lori Smith. This is a beautiful 12 block medallion quilt which has the option to either piece or applique the center. This will be a year long club which will meet at10 AM on the second Saturday of every month. Each month a new block will be introduced and we will talk about the block piecing and the quilt construction. Block kits and patterns will cost $5.00 per month however, if you attend the Saturday session the cost will be reduced to $2.50 per kit. There will also be show and tell, prizes and alot of fun!!! So come and spend a Saturday morning with friends and make a beautiful quilt.
