  BELPER LADIES HOCKEY CLUB – JUNIOR SECTION  Pre‐Season Newsletter 2012/13  We hope you are all well and despite the weather enjoying the summer so far. The undoubted  highlight for next season is the new Astroturf carpet on the pitch which is being laid at the moment  and will be in operation for next season. This is a significant investment by the Sports Club and its  Hockey section in securing our future and ensuring that players can play and train on what will be  the best playing surface in the County.  Next Season  Looking ahead to next season, we are delighted that Wayne Madsen will continue to be our Head  Coach. As some of you will know Wayne is the Captain of Derbyshire Cricket Club and they are  having a good season. Once the cricket season has finished Wayne will lead the evening training  sessions supported by some of the club’s regular coaches.  For next season we will be introducing a Hockey Academy. This is for invited players who are seeking  to develop their skills to play at a higher level and/or to play at county/regional level.  We have again entered teams in the England Hockey Junior outdoor competitions at Under 14,  Under 16 and Under 18 and will be entering teams at Under 16 and 18 for the indoor competition.  Training  Training starts week commencing 3rd September and the training nights are as follows:  Wednesdays 6.00 to 7.30: Junior training – this is open to all players including beginners,  Under 14’s and older.  Thursdays 6.30 to 8.00: Belper Academy training – this is for invited players.  For those players who are playing on a Saturday for a Ladies side then they will be able to train with  their respective Ladies side as follows:  1st/2nd team training will be on Wednesday night after junior training.  3rd/4th team training will be on a Monday night.  You will be advised as to which training sessions you should attend – if you have any queries on this  please contact your manager or one of the coaches.

  In addition Paula, Joanne, Audra, and Sharon will represent the Juniors Section on the Ladies  Committee depending on availability.  Outdoor  We have entered the England Hockey Under 14, 16 and 18 competitions. We also are in the process  of arranging a number of friendly fixtures. More details will follow as the fixtures are confirmed.  Indoor  We will enter the Under 16 and 18 England Hockey indoor competition again and Belper Sports  Centre and Repton Sports Hall have already been booked for training in late November, December  and January.  Indoor training at Belper will be open to all players and will take place on a Thursday night from 6.00  to 8.00 p.m. starting on 22nd November. 

Training at Repton will be on a Sunday morning starting in December and will be for the indoor  squads for the England Hockey competition. Selection for the indoor squads will take place nearer  the time.  Fees  The fees for next season are as follows:  Basic subscription fee is £25. This is for players who train but do not play any games.  For those players who just play in their age group and do not play regularly on a Saturday for  a Ladies side, the subscription fee is £40.  For those players playing regularly on a Saturday for a Ladies side (more than 4 games) as  well as in their age group the subscription fee is £75.  Training Fee is £3.50 per session.  Indoor fees to be advised  Player registration forms will be sent out at the beginning of the season.  Fundraising  Belper Junior Girls will be holding a Race Night on Saturday 13th October at Hazelwood Village Hall  7pm.  Fun for the whole family. Tickets will go on sale at the start of next season.  Keep an eye on  the website for full details.  In the meantime if anyone wishes to sponsor a race (you get to name it)  at a cost of £25 or name a horse for £2 contact Paula Cahill.    Once we have more details on next season’s fixtures then we will send them out. In the meantime  have a great summer, stay fit, keep an eye on the website and if you have any queries please contact  us.    Belper Girls Management and Coaching Team July 2012  www.belperhc.co.uk
