Bendix Magneto Gear Replacement

INTRODUCTION This guide will show you how to remove the gear in the magneto. A broken gear can cause the magneto not to rotate and therefore, you cannot get the correct timing.

TOOLS: Flathead Screwdriver (1) Size #2

Milbar snap ring plier (1)

Step 1 — Gear 

Use a #2 Flathead screw driver to remove the five screws on the body of the magneto



Locate the spark plug lead.



Use a Milbar snap ring plier to remove the snap ring.

Step 2

 The snap ring can be difficult to remove. Make sure the pliers needles go into the holes of the snap ring.

 Wear safety goggles when removing the snap ring. The snap ring can shoot out on accident.
