Bendix Magneto Woodruff Key

INTRODUCTION This guide will show you how to remove the Woodruff key. A bad Woodruff key will cause the drive to rotate without the magneto moving.

TOOLS: 9 16 wrench (1) Large Needle Nose Pliers (1)

Step 1 — Impulse Coupling



Use a 9/16 wrench to unscrew the nut on the drive shaft.

Remove the lock washer underneath the nut.

Pull away the impulse coupling.

Step 4 — Woodruff Key 

Use a pliers to remove the Woodruff key.

 If the key seems stuck, use a #2 Flathead screwdriver to unjam the key.
